I'm thinkin' you heavy versus light guys should simply start your own topic - one of which I'll stay outa

Greg, I'm not the enemy. Secure from battle stations. Did you read post number 48? I don't think I am a heavy vs light guy. I think I just told my experience with light and heavy and allowed as to how light might do the deed with added weight if you are careful and realize you are out of the design envelope and so need to be cautious. If it is to only move gravel and loose material then light is fine. If you only want to move loose or soft material you don't even need scarifiers but I would not recommend skipping that feature as once you have the implement you tend to use it for things not envisioned at first.

I didn't expect a broadside for my even handed relating of my personal experience with a few opinions included. A BZ would have been more appropriate.

As regards threads wandering off the exact topic. Yes they do and that isn't always a bad thing. Check out Eddies lake building thread or "will it fly". Any thread that has more than just a few posts and stirs much interest will eventually wander around fairly far from the strict initial subject. I made a post over on CBN (in home building, Oklahoma farm house) that has over 50,000 views and has grown to 20 pages. It wandered around a bit but if anyone were to have a right to complain about off topic posts it would be the originator (me) and I didn't.

In the words of that (famous) philosopher, Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?" I do not mean, in any way, to stifle dissent, disagreement, wrangling, or the like. What I am saying is we can DISAGREE without being DISAGREEABLE.

I was never in the military (I was USAF) but I understand the mindset.

Don't get so puffed up Junk, you'll blow a gasket. I'm not trying to impose my will or even my opinions on anyone else. But this otherwise unmoderated forum has strayed significantly from the original question. I'm merely trying to steer the discussion BACK TO WHERE IT STARTED.

Patrick - Absolutely nothing personal. Whereas your nautical terms did not go unnoticed, it doesn't obviate the fact that somebody has to grab the rudder when things start heading off course. I simply took the initiative. If it ruffles feathers of those with other agendas, then so be it. .

BTW anyone know where to get a shorter toplink for a reasonable price?

No I'm looking too!

On my kk box blade I drilled new holes as far back an lower on rear braces which moved a frame toward rear about 2 inches. and that helped TSC has cat 0 top links that are shorter but eyes are only 5/8".

Again down the side street, but I may be able to assist Tom. I was awaiting for Jacob to answer my questions before identifying a possible source or sources. Same to you - what category is your present toplink? how long is it toplink (eye to eye) when fully extended? when fully retracted? and how long is the barrel portion in the middle?

To keep this topic otherwise on track, I don't mind if you'd answer by private message. Click on my name at the far left, then select the private message option. Jacob - this applies to you as well

Well, that's one way to put it. Another (and more accurately) you're TRYING (unsuccessfully I might add) to manipulate and dominate the thread. Trying to disqualify any opinions that don't agree with your agenda isn't holding water. Won't happen. And last time I checked, this ISN'T an unmoderated forum. I'd suspect there's a few moderators looking in that would find that assumtion of yours absolutely ridiculous. I see but one "puffy" in this thread, and it certainly isn't me. (I'm the one who's agreeing with the vast majority if you haven't taken the time to look and read)

From what I see, YOU are the one steering this thread FAR away from topic, which is, what makes a better box blade. You've TRIED to turn it into a pissing match over forcing everyone to post only that with which you concur. I don't recall seeing any of that in the ORIGINAL POST.

Nor do I sir.

Let me refresh your memory:
" ok tbn fellas im in the market for a box blade. i can get a 5.5 foot United box blade for 350.00. I think this should do fine, but i see these 500 + blades all the time for sale. I know you have to look at metal size and welds but other than that i dont see a reason to shell out the bank for a more expensive blade. Does anyone have a united BB or know of any good reason why i should look elsewhere? ".

Once again, I've done nothing more than try to help keep the thread within the context of the question posed. You boys can play in the heavy versus light sandbox all you want. My unwavering position has been stated - that the United box in question should be quite suitable for his B3030. Other than that, I generally responded to advice could have led to a boxblade bigger than a B3030 can handle. Further, WORKINALLTHETIME seems to have extracted the information he considers sufficient to answer his original question.

But if you really still think it's necessary, you're free to go right ahead and turn any shade of blue that makes you happy.

OR we can all stand here and hold our breath until we turn blue if everyone doesn't agree with what we have to say. ;)

Ah, the general prudential rule from the old version of the COLREGS!
