Checking the GST System Pressure

I need to check the GST system pressure on my L2900 and need some additional info.

The service manual is straight forward on the procedure but I'm unclear on the test equipment needed.

STEP 1: Remove the GST system checking port plug (PT 1/8)
Q1: Does "PT 1/8" = Pipe thread, 1/8"?

STEP 2. Install the adaptor "D" to checking port and then install the threaded joint, cable and pressure gauge.
Q2.1: I assume that "threaded joint" and "adaptor "D" are referring to components in a Kubota service kit (later it refers to adaptor "7"). Does any one know what these adaptors are or where I could get them?

Q2.2: What is the cable for? Does the fluid exert pressure against the cable which in turn exerts it against the gauge?

Q2.3 Can the pressure be measured directly with a gauge and hose?


Q3: Where can I get a test kit to do the above?

Remember when dealing with Kubota literature, it is translated form Japanese to French, and then from French to English.

Q1, Yes it is 1/8" pipe, but it is the Europian pipe thread with is 19 threads/inch instead of 18. Generally you and use a stanard 1/8" NPT without a problem.

Q2.1, Yes, those are fittings from the Kubota service kit. The dealer may be able to get them for you. OTC makes them for Kubota, if I remember correctly you won't be able to get them directly from OTC.

Q2.2, Refer to my opening statement. By cable, they do mean hose.

What kind of problems are you having with your GST? It has been awhile since I have had to test one, but I'm pretty sure all of the tests can be done without having to get Kubota's test kit.
