Checking B26 HST fluid-engine running or off?

I just watched a YouTube video on another model of Kubota where the mechanic ran the engine when checking the HST fluid. That got me confused, I know checking engine oil with the engine running isn't a good idea, but HST?

I've owned my B26 for six years and have always checked the HST with the engine off. Am I out to lunch or does it depend on the model?

My Op manual is silent on checking the hydraulic fluid with the engine on or off. However - I would think its a pretty safe bet that they want you check it with the engine off. If for no other reason - from a safety stand point.

Page 11 of my ops manual pre ops check states in bold that the engine should be off before checking the motor oil, hst, etc.
