Hi guys, I had a “check” light that was on with a fuel solenoid issue and the stop light brake switch not working.

I still get the light on when my tractor is used for some time and my engine gets hot.

My question is.. is there a safety switch that causes that “check” light to go on if the engine is running hot?

My gauge will climb slowly up to the 3/4 line (line before hot) that’s when the light comes on.

I’m going to order a thermostat and I’m going to get it to a location where I can flush the system out and maybe hose off the fins of the radiator..

Coolant..

any antifreeze will do?

What does Mahindra recommend for year round mix? 50:50?

You need to clear the radiator from the backside as the fins get packed full of debris. It may look clear, but can you see light through it? If you can't see light through it, the fan can't pull any air through it either.

When you say your temperature gauge slowly climbs to the 3/4 mark, where does it normally run when up to normal operating temps?

That’s the issue. I recently purchased it about a month ago and have only I used it a few times for extended times to where it just creeps up.

The times I run it for short spurts it’s right around the 1/4 or under half area so I figured that’s its normal running temp.

I do want to blow/hose the fins out and flush the coolant system before I go buying a thermostat and further more. Maybe it’s clogged up more than I can see.

Do Mahindras use a 50:50 ratio?

My dealer recommended 50:50. Fairly standard in our area of northern Michigan as it can hit -30 to -40 occasionally. I have a 2017 eMax 25 and they recommend the green antifreeze.....

Definitely clean the radiator fins first, before throwing parts at it. There are some very effective tools available to flush the fins with both water and air. I recommend air first, followed by water.
It is likely dirt / dust in the fins is causing your overheating issue.

As far as coolant type and concentration, it's always a safe bet to go with the manufacturer's recommendation. I personally flush the standard green 2 year coolant at the first interval to an extended life coolant. In my case, Zerex G05. It's a hybrid coolant with a 5 year interval. 50% is almost universally standard except in arctic conditions.

Yes^^^^Then, if that dirt/dust gets wet and is left between the fins, then it is much harder to get out. That is why it is important to use a light to SEE if the passages are clear. Be sure to check over the entire radiator, even toward the edges and corners.
