I have a 96 555E that I recently purchased and blew out a line and don't see where to check the hydraulic fluid, can anyone help?

Doesn't it have a saddle tank reservoir? If so, look on the reservoir above the step for a sight-glass. When you see fluid in that glass, you are at the right level.

Yes it does have a saddle tank with a sight glass and the fluid is low the lid is just some kind of vent, do you know how to add fluid?

Check in the toolbox on the tractor (if you have one) and see if you can find a large wrench. It is thin/flat and about 6" long. It looks like a big "Y" shape. You slide that under the plastic grip and loosen the reservoir opening, then take it off completely with the knob. I know it's a goofy setup, but that's the way New Holland does it. If you don't have one, they are $27 from New Holland. I think you could make one with a little effort though. See Item #14 in the illustration below.
