Secondly, the controls were there on the left side behind the screen.

Also, don't forget to squirt some tuner cleaner spray on them once in a while. Otherwise gunk can build up on the contacts and the picture gets a bit snowy. In a couple of months you may have to pull one or more tubes out and head down to a hardware store, cigar store, or a place called Radio Shack and figure out which of the tubes is bad.

Remember when someone would have to get up off their butt and rotate the tunner?
'Color' tv didn't exist.

That's one of the things children were for. As for color television, my parents didn't have one until '78 or '79. Not that dad was cheap, he was "frugal". He didn't see any reason to replace the old Zenith B&W until it broke for good.
