Charging problem

I have a John Deere 318 garden tractor, that has a charging problem when mowing for about 15 min.

For some reason, the battery warning light comes on "about 15 min after I start mowing". If I turn the mower switch off, the battery warning light turns off.

My question is, where do I start? I know this battery is fully charged. So it's not the battery, and the PTO clutch is properly adjusted. I guess this leaves the rectifier? Does any body out there that messes with this type of stuff know what it is that's causing this problem? Or most likely know what the problem is.

Don't know the answer but my Cub Cadet light stays ON for 15 mins after mower clutch engaged, then finally goes out. So I'm interested in the answer!

Yea but does it drop off to 12.5? it should after 10 minutes or so.

Murph, thanks for the information and help. For some reason it's working now. All I did was move the wires around, and pulled all three connectors on the rectifier, and cleaned all the spades up. Oh, by the way, the battery did drop down and level out like you said it would after running it for an hour.

What engine Model and # is in it? If its a Kohler, some have a dual system where the Electric clutch for the deck is run off
of 1 and the charging of the battery is a separate system.

Make sure your connections are clean and tight and your good to go.
