Changing tire size on a four wheel drive tractor

The front tires on my Mcormick tractor don't seem to be heavy enough to handle a 1400lb round bale.I would like to put some heavier duty tires on but it is a 4 wheel drive. It has 11.2-24 8 ply Good year tires

Have you considered foam filling the tires?
As long as the other tires have the same circumference it should not be a problem.

If you put a taller on the front, you need go taller on the back by the same %

8 ply should be enough most the full size back hoes around here only have 8 ply tires front and back. I put 12 ply on mine to help resist rock damage.

I have 11.2-24 tires on my jd and can easily handle 1400lbs no problem. How much air pressure are you running in them?

My dealer told me it is critical to maintain the same ratio in the diameters between the front & back on a four wheel drive or the tranny will "pop".

I've seen lengthy threads on the tractor forums on just this topic.

Sounds like low air pressure. 8-ply should be plenty

I have 9.5 x 24 - 6ply @ 30psi and they don't get "squishy" looking until I carry over 2100 lbs with the grapple. Run your fronts up to max pressure as indicated on the tire sidewall.

Are they radials? They flex more than bias ply, they also give a lot more traction...

I agree though, air them up!!

Might as well throw my hat in the ring too. Air em up. Cheap solution, no problems generated, no work involved, right answer.
