I am usually really organized, but for some reason I can not find users manual for my tractor (B1750HST) and I would like to change the transmission fluid. Could somebody please answer few questions?

1. Kubota dealer has Super UDT with price I can go with - is it ok to use Super UDT in B1750?

2. I am thinking I will need 5 gallons of the fluid, am I correct?

3. The drain plug is the lowest point of the mid PTO housing? I looked only briefly:)

4. Should I change it while the tractor is hot?

5. I also want to clean strainers, there are two of them, right?

Thank you

Prokop

Prokop: I recently traded my B1750HST on a B3030HSDC,so I'll try and go on memory here.
1. I'm sure SUDT would be fine,if you're OK with the price and want the cold weather benefits.
2. When I changed the fluid in mine,it took about 3 gallons, maybe just a little more-there was quite a bit left in the bucket.
3. There are 3 drain plugs;the mid PTO and then one on each side of the differential housing.
4. It certainly never hurts to drain fluids warm. I took quite a while doing my service to avoid a big mess,so it ended up being cool by the time I was finished. Probably more important with engine oil
5. Don't forget the HST filter under the cover between your feet-it's a spin-on. Two strainers, one on each side by rear axle housing. Large bolt head(26 or 27MM?)like 1 1/16 or 1 1/8". Be sure to do these-mine had never been done and the one for the HST was quite full of shavings. The one for the auxiliary hydraulics wasn't too bad. Oil fill and dipstick under seat. Have fun.

Thank you, appreciate the info. I already have the spin on filter from tractorsmart.com - but I learned about strainers only last week:)

A second thought-there are 2 o-rings per strainer. Mine survived removing the strainers. I left them where they were and cleaned them. I used Penzoil Hydra-Trans,a 10W20 multigrade. Local Carquest store had it for $42 for a 5 gallon pail

I dont know if getting the oil warm helps much, but certainly, driving it around for a minute will stir up some of the heavier gunk and shavings so that they do actually come out with the old oil.

Last silly question: how do I get the new fluid in?

I used a long funnel like the kind one would use to add automatic transmisson fluid to a pickup truck. Pour slowly as the tractor won't accept the fluid as fast as it can flow through the funnel. This is one instance one gallon containers would be better than a five gallon pail. Out of curiousity did you decide on SUDT,and what sixe did you bring home? If you have a pail,it may be worth filling a smaller container several times to make the slow pour easier. Good luck.

yes, I will go with SUDT when the date is better (i.e. after the 15th:) My dealer has it in 2.5 jugs.

Now what hole is there to fill the HST - is there a dedicated filling hole?

Ah,yes, the fill location. It's in the center of the tractor, under the front of the seat. If you stand on the right side of the tractor by the footrest, you will find the dipstick at the rear of the footrest, and tilt the seat. Just look up and toward the center of the tractor and you will find the fill. I had the seat tilted when I filled mine. At the price of lube, you might want to bring home one 2.5 gallon jug, then see how much more you need-that may get you close enough. That is if the dealer isn't too far away.

Yep, believe it or not its that stupid little hole thats less than a half inch diameter. I bought an oil pump - a hand operated thing like a big fat bike pump with a couple of plastic tubes. (About $20 I think). I pumped while my wife held the tube. Still took about half an hour.
