Changing the ball joints on a Branson 4220

Last year replace the left side and last week I broke the right side trying to move a large stone.... dumb move... anyway.. I ordered the new kit that fixes both sides. I made the mistake of trying to remove the shroud to get better access to the joint and that resulted in a very damaged finger...didn't know it was under pressure. What is the best method of doing the change out. The arm lowered when I took off the nuts exposing the reservoir underneath. I could not figure out how to lift it back in place.

OK, so I managed to get the wheel back up, I see the bearings and how the trace is installed on the old cover. So I got the new one set and it does not seem to fit. Looks like the trace is larger on the new part. Unfortunately I did not see it was larger before I installed it. Cant seem to get it down far enough. Naturally there are no instructions and little that I can find on the web. I need someone out there to give me advice. Moving the tractor to a dealer is not a good option. Any other advice regarding this change out for this novice would be helpful.
