Changing engine oil... Amsoil

Same with my wife's Audi. Came filled with synthetic oil.

When I get my Porsche I'll let the dealer worry about what kind of oil I need. Same goes for my Corvette. Driving would be first on my list of things to do. Vette today and Porsche tomorrow.

Amsoil is basically snake oil. It's not API certified, which means that they're not confident enough in their product to submit it for certification. If they're unwilling to certify their product then there's no way I would use it in any engine I own. They offer a lot of marketing hype and not much else.

I own a 1998.5 dodge/cummins that has 312,000 miles on it and it's used shell rotella T since it's first oil change. Stick with a quality dino oil and your engine will run forever. Forget the snake oil stuff like Amsoil, there's nothing good to be had from it, it can only decrease your engine life.

All I can say is go to the oil forum & read test results between amsoil & other dino oils including rotella. Amsoil & other synthetics such as mobil 1 e. p. has alot more additives than rotella or any other dino oil.I use to be a die hard dino oil person until I became a member of TBN & started reading post on the oil forum about synthetic oil. rotella is put out by shell. I use to use what I thought was a quality oil( exxon) until I had an oil test done at 3000 miles & found that all the additives gone .The people on the oil froum can teach people with an open mind alot ! Or try the diesel stop . com Synthetic is the oil of the future.Think how much less oil that we would have to import if every one used synthetic .
