I already am in possession of the DUO239's, the talons or trygg studded chains were just a a tad rich in cost for my wallet after spending $35k on tractor and implements recently.

Sorry to hear that,
good luck this winter, enjoy your new tractor and blower.

Hello TYMNorsky,

How far are you from the Flat Head Dam and BNSF Flat Head Tunnel?? They wasted a lot of money mining out that tunnel when they could have built switchbacks and snow sheds over the switches less expensively.

Hi! Leonz, I'm literally just 3 miles from Hungry Horse Dam, the BNSF tunnel I'm not sure about, but it must be the one bordering Glacier Park?

TYM
Flathead tunnel is 7 miles long in between trego and libby. It is the second longest rail tunnel in the US. I think that the terrain there would be unsuited for switchbacks particularly on the south side where the mountains are quite abrupt.
The current route is actually the third location for that portion of the line
1st haskill pass near marion- abandoned due to snow and grades
2nd Tobacco river to kootenay river- abandoned due to Koocanusa lake

Living in similar conditions to you (above the head of whitefish lake) I would guess that front chains would be awful nice due to the amount of ice we can get- are you clearing a paved road?

Enjoy that rear pull, i've been using mine for 5 or 6 years now.

I have gone with front chains on my tractor... for many years. It has helped when going through snow and side hills. My lane has a bank on it, and if we ice or any ice develops, the back end slides.. I bought a set of studded chains for the rear last year. WOW.. is all I can say. It grips and keeps me going where I want to go. Not cheap.... but well worth it to me. I am on gravel only.

They do put most of the other chains to shame,
untill people use them for the first timethey tend to not believe how well they work.

Agreed!!!! They obviously work in snow.. and dirt.. but they really shine on ice and hard packed snow.... in a grade

My bother shot this last winter just playing around one day,
the 656 is just over 6000# with the Talon chains the CIH Magnum 7120 is a bit over 22,000# it has more 3 pt lift capacity then the 656 weighs.
