Chains for BX

Who has snow chains on their BX, and if you do, did you find any clearance issues.

I have a BX2360 and I wish to install the V bite type chains on 2" links and want to be sure I do not run into clearance issues, especially on the front.

I have chains on my BX23 and it was a tight fit. Last year the chains loosened up just a little bit driving at full speed down the country road and started hitting the lever that shifts from the front PTO to the rear PTO. I never use the rear PTO so I just unbolted it. I added wheel spacers and it now has plenty of clearance all around. I leave the right spacer on all year and I have to remove the left side spacer to get clearance for the 60" mid mount mower.

I had listened to others who said chains aren't necessary on the BX but once I tried them,they go on in the fall and don't come off till spring. With the bar tires it is phenomenal how much traction you get. I do mostly plowing but when the snow gets really deep I have a front blower.

This is my rig, no issues besides fantastic traction. Just have to make sure that the front chains are TIGHT.

Wheel weights...for more traction. They look like old cast iron weights from a free weight set to me.

Can't get a lot of liquid fill in those small tires of the BX series tractors.

Depends on what you're doing. They help with loader work (but ballast on the 3PH is better, IMHO). They also aid in stability of the tractor.
Might not be so good if mowing is the primary function of the tractor though.
