These three chain storage boxes are made from square tubing and hold my three chains at exactly where my hand is while I get off my tractor. I can grab a chain without even slowing down. One chain is 1/4" x 8', the other two are 1/4" x 116' and 20'. I get the system 70 chain. 1/5" is almost as strong as regular 5/16" but much lighter and easy to handle.

The boxes are drilled. The FEL bracket is drilled and tapped with fine threadss. Use lock washers.

The floors of the boxes have 3/16 gaps on each of two sides so water drains and mud washes out.

I'd miss these boxes it they were not here.

we did something similar on our 580 case backhoe. mind you, thier not as easy to get too, but they are nice and handy when you get off the machine to use them

JRP my hats off to you for coming up with such a simple solution to an ongoing problem of where to put the dreaded chain. I have already misplaced one due to carrying it in my FEL bucket. You can be sure that I have printed your picture for reference and will indeed put it to good use on my TC-40D

Thanks again! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It is a great place & setup.. are you concerned w/ holes drilled in the FEL mount?

Nice job. I notice that the one mounted higher up was cut so the mounting bolts are above the rim. Allowing easy access to the mounting bolts. The others have the bolts below the rim and probably are a little harder to mount. But easier to make.

My question is, which was the last one you made? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

That is one handy idea!

That is amazing to store 116' of chain in a container that size..... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

SIR,
i had a plan to mount a 50 caliber ammunition box on my L3000DT,
to store my chain. after looking at your idea, i think this is a better
way to go. now i have to make a trip to warrenton steel. did you drill,
and tap the part it is mounted on, or did you use long bolts to go all
the way through?

Great ideal. sure beats having them sliding around on the floor. I have to wonder how many of those will get built in the next 12 months. I would like to make something similar to carry the chainsaw, just got to figure out what I need.
