Certified for 5000 Hrs??

I found a tag on the valve cover of the engine of my G3033 that says certified for 5000 hrs.Does this mean the engine will meet the emission standards for at least 5000 hrs? or does this mean that it's certified to run for 5000 hrs? The tag is on the top of the valve cover back near the firewall and really hard to see with FEL on.Is this tag also on the Mitsu engines?
Just wondering what this means

Unsure but we can conclude it is not that it is certified to run for 5000 hours..since the warranty is what guarantees how long they will back a product. I think your first inclination would be correct...That is just a guess but just thinking through it that seems to make the most sense.

Interesting: Maybe someone close to a dealer can query them on it and not get a BS answer.
I am more inclined to believe that it is a minimum certification of life expectancy before requirement for overhaul kind of like airplane engines with 1200 hr, 2000 hour engine certifications.

Is this also found on all LS engines?Or just the 3 cyl G engines?

When I was researching these engines I found a document that had the results from testing required for california epa reqs. I seem to recall the 5000 hrs being listed on that document as well as fuel consumption and emission levels for the various gasses covered under the clean air act. I'll be dammed if I can find it again though.

These engines are used in lots of applications from generators to lots of other equipment. That is probably an engine overhaul rating on a continues run type of application for preventative maintenance. I don't think it means it will take a crap at 5000 hours, it could take a crap long before or after that depending on maintenance. I imagine on a critical piece of equipment that was running all the time the 5000 hour mark would be the time you would want to have it overhauled or replaced to eliminate down time with an unexpected failure.
