With Verizon, you can on a per phone basis block such text from costing you anything more than the cost of a text. I have that set on our phones as we don't have a need for such "services"

I have Verizon also, but we have the anytime, anywhere plan, so text don't cost me. (other than the monthly premium). I guess I just don't like being "marketed", if I am interested in a product or service, let "me" find you.

I have also registered with the "DoNot Call, but I don't know how much difference it makes, seems like every credit transaction you make, allows the vendor to Spam the he(( out of you, including their marketing subsidiary's.

About the same here, although I have used my phone for work related scheduling and such...

I've registered on this website since 2007 or 2008.
Works pretty good, but there are limitations (doesn't stop "charitable" or "political" calls and if the call originates overseas (India, for example)...well, they can be persistant.
But, it does eliminate the great majority of the telemarketing.

How convenient for the "politicians" to exempt themselves! It's all about them and to he** with the rest of us.
