MF GC2400 that replaced retired CC 2518 and retired CC 2160
I've got a CC 2518 that I just replaced the battery last month because it was 3 years old. Today while mowing for a hour the tractor just quit. I checked the volts with a meter when it stopped and it started at 9.9 and kept climbing to 11.90. I hooked up my fast charger to the tractor and it started so I drove it back to the shed and put the slow charger on it. My question is how do I check to see if it's charging on it's own to see if it's just a bad battery? Thanks for your answers.

several things to chk:
1) make sure your battery's polarity is correct and that lug and ground connections have been cleaned with sandpaper to a clean finish.
2) Remove battery - take to qualified shop for a LOAD test.
3) with know good charged battery hooked up, post terminal voltage at rest (no load) s/b >12 - 12.5 volts DC. With engine runnig at full throttle, s/b >13.2 volts at batt posts. If less, then time to get help with troubleshooting your tractor's charging circuit (post back here).
