Just what we need. Another welfare farmer.

Hey, as much money as I pay in taxes every year, I'll take anything they're willing to give me. Especially since they think SS will be bankrupt by the time I'm old enough to get it. They stole it from me the first time and then they stole it out of the account they were supposed to pay it back from..... Yeah.... give me some of that welfare.

all they care about is getting their hooks in you and you have to allow inspections and they tell you exactly what they want done and how to spend the tax payers money. NO THANK YOU.

You do have a very valid point there.... good reason not to ever take it. Kind of like borrowing money from the mafia.....

Kenmac, you might check out the extension service web site in your state. I think their primary focus is supporting farmers and helping people get started in farming. Alabama & Georgia's web sites both have a TON of information about getting going, growing, selling, etc.... Agriculture: Business Management | Alabama Cooperative Extension System - ACES.edu I've thought about having a state forester come out to my place for free to give me advice on my trees, but I have to admit, I'm a little leery of what their recommendations would be. As M5farms said, once they get their hooks in you..... I wouldn't say I'm paranoid, but the last thing I need is the govt to come out here and say, oh you can't cut these, or you're going to have to spray that, etc.... once you show up on the radar, you know? I'm still on the fence. Anyway, the web sites have a lot of good information and you could check out pretty much any one in your region and they'll have info pertaining to you.

I just try to think of it as Charity. I agree with the premise of its my money but personal standards and integrity weigh heavy on me. When its all over I want my kids and grandkids to know that doing everything on your own and not being dependent on anyone is a trait not many posses in today's gimme world. That's why our country in in the mess it is in.

That may be who I was thinking of instead of the USDA. \
I'm going to try to meet with them to see what they have available.

If they have a program for all those corn growers to provide corn for ethanol, then I have no issues with them fencing in my property.

Back in the 80's, there were 8 dairy's in my area. The government bought them all out

Like you say, It's your money.. Are you going to turn down that SS check ?
You know, It does come from the government

The illegals have no issues spending your government check

I would be happy if I could forgo everything I have ever paid and never pay in another dime as the program was designed to be voluntary. I do not plan on there being any money available in 15yrs when I am 65 . At that point I will evaluate where I am and the total I have paid in and make a decision from there.

You don't have to wait until 65. You can take at 62 if you wish.
Just wondering if you will accept it since it will be a government hand out /charity ?

A SS pay out is no different than any other government pay out.
SS was put there to be paid out, just like the other government pay outs

If you would rather see them give money to all these other countries, illegals, etc, instead of taking your share is fine with me.
If you don't take what you have paid, Some other country, or illegal, etc, sure will

You can bet I'll take my SS in a couple years.

As far as it being charity. They took my money from me without my consent. If they give my money back to me, how is it charity ?

all very true, Some greedy bastard will have their hand out for something that is not theirs. that Does not make it right . If more people stood up to the wrongs that have been placed on us things would change but that would mean they don't get free stuff.

So, If I can get a chance to get some of my own money back. How is that taking charity ?
Had the government not stolen my money, and I got free money for fencing. It would be charity

If they happen to pay for some fencing. It won't be charity, or free money. It will be with money they have stolen from me since I was about 14-15 yrs old
