Since the 110 has a level indicator you could probably add a taller spill plate and not have any worries about seeing the edge.

I'm aware of the antispill linkage and feel it on high loader boom lift. I'm also aware of level sights on the attachments. I'm not yet aware of the level indicator on the tractor itself, please explain.

As far as not being a seasoned operator I would think the 110 will serve as an excellent machine for you to master your skills. It is a user friendly machine and the hydraulics are smooth as can be. One of the complaints I had with the one I owned was that it was very loud with the cab on, other than that it was a very nice unit.

My neighbor and another friend who are both true operators both inquired about CAT controls. Both suggested I convert to those before I get used to it. John Deere uses ISO controls, boom and swing on left, Dipper and bucket on right. SAE (CAT, as they call it) is swing and dipper stick on left, boom and bucket on right. If I opted to do so, I think it could be done by simply replumbing out of the backhoe valves. I'm on the fence about it right now and am simply using the machine to complete tasks as required. It's the middle of winter and don't feel like messing with it at the moment for that reason.

On the right hand side, when sitting in the seat, there should be a silver/gold rid that runs up the inside of the loader arm, this has a tab on it that runs alongside an indicator that is bolted to the top of the loader tower near where the right side loader arm is pinned on. It may be hard to see with the cab on, but it should be there. It's nothing fancy, a simple mechanical setup so you visually know when the cutting edge is parallel with the ground.

Okay, the silver/gold rod, and entire linkage, is part of the anti-spill over feature. The level indicator is obviously incorporated into that as well and I'm aware of the mechanisms at the RH upper loader pin. I just never studied what they did. I certainly will next time I run the machine.

On a side note...when I received the machine, I noticed that the lower anti-spill over link appeared bent and was rubbing on the loader boom cross tube. After reviewing images of other machines, it appeared that I was correct. In fact, there was a corresponding ding on the lower surface of the loader boom. They must have caught something dumping and/or backing out. I've since straightened that. See attached images.

When the two grooves are aligned that indicates the cutting edge is parallel with the ground (see arrows on photo)

The photos indicate the cutting edge is NOT parallel with the ground,

Thanks for the pics to assist my poor explanation....I couldn't find any pics online of it anywhere.....

Oh,and as far as switching the controls on the hoe, use whatever you are comfortable with. I have been running "Deere" style controls since I was a kid, I can run "cat" style but it takes me a bit of time to be efficient with em'. Some fellers will say that cat style is the way a "real operator" should run a machine, to each his own. It kinda sounds to me like your neighbors would be more comfortable if it was cat controls so if they ever needed to "help you run it" ,like , at their house, it wouldn't be so frustrating for them ;)

I'm rather certain that the loader linkage level sights are not visible because of the cab. I've been practicing with the multipurpose bucket. We had 40 degree plus temps yesterday so it softened the ice and hard pack snow on the driveway, that I can't get up with my Fisher plow on the truck. With clamshell open, I use the blade feature to scrape up the frozen mess . Once I'm done scraping it up, I put the loader in float and close the clamshell to grab the spoil with little mess left.

I also used the multipurpose bucket to break the bead down on a truck rim and tire. I opened the clamshell to just clear the tire, drop it in to just past the rim and hit the B button on the remote. It broke the bead effortlessly. Clamping force seems quite good. In the next few weeks, I'm having several large trees harvested by crane. I'm looking forward to grabbling them with the bucket and bucking up the wood in the bucket or backhoe with thumb to cut into fireplace length.

Last week, used 4-in-1 bucket to move around freshly cut oak tree trunks. As follows, green northern red oak, 19" at large end, 9" at small end, 32' long. According to wood web, this weighs approx. 2375 lbs. I pulled up to it with clamshell open, clamped down, curled back slightly and lifted entire log into pile. If my bucket weighs close to 1000 lbs., I'm lifting over 1-1/2 ton!
