Loosening the couplings at either end then sliding them back should allow the shaft to be removed, sometimes the splines inside wear because the bolts were not tight enough!!
Remember to fit new bearing so that the shaft loads it otherwise it will slip and wear shaft in two!!
There is a shimming procedure, shown in the service manual!!
