I have had my tractor for about 10 years. It is a 2004 model. It had 410 hours when I got it and now it has almost 700 hours. The issue I have is that twice in the ten years I have owned it, I have had to make the clutch adjustment rod longer. The problem is that I'm almost out of threads on it. I assume this means that the clutch is worn? I know its time to adjust the clutch because at a certain point, you can feel the tractor 'slipping' as though the clutch is partially engaged. A turn or two of the rod, and its good to go again.

It has spent most of its life with a 850lb shredder on the back and a 6' heavy duty grapple on the front. I do a LOT of grapple work on my place, LOTS of forward and reverse and clutching. I am very mindful of 'riding the clutch'.

My questions are:

How long should a clutch last in a tractor like this?

Can I replace the clutch myself and will it lose all its hydraulic fluid when making the repair? I believe it is a 'dry' clutch.

All depends on the world you are doing and a lot of forward reverse is a killer for a clutch !

Makes sense. I figured its wear was related to that kind of work. Any idea on clutch replacement? Can I split this tractor without losing any fluid? My gut says yes, but I have no clue how its put together inside.

you will lose fluid, not from clutch but all the lines that have to be taken apart
