Case 680CK
I just bought a 1967? Case 680CK S/N 9101205. I was told it had a main seal leak, I drove it 6 miles home, dripping oil. Oil pressure stayed around 50 PSI, engine warmed up and stayed at 190, converter temp stayed below half way into the green, tach worked and shows 1769 hrs. At home I took a sample of the oil leak and it appears to be TCH (transmission/converter/hydraulic) fluid. It is running out pretty fast. I was hoping for a slow engine oil leak that would allow me to use the machine for a while until I could pull the engine. Oh Well. Having fixed most every old machine I have acquired, I expect to be able to handle it myself, though I have not rebuilt a torque converter before. The pressure gauge for the converter was inoperative, but the machine did drive 6 miles and go up my hill (I have 204 acres of S facing mountainside with 3 miles of road). My main question is, since the converter is working, can I replace seals and get back to work. I would also replace the crank seals both front and back at the same time. Any other suggestions? Also, while forcing grease into dried out joints, the grease in the bottom pivot of the king pins on both sides was really hard. After about half hour of digging on each side with a little screwdriver, I was able to get them to take grease, but I have yet to lift the load off and see how tight they are. The load bearing bearing on both sides is gone but for part of one protective shield. I have not been able to find a king pin set online, although I expect I could replace the bearing by ID/OD and thickness. The pivots screw out (big hex head with grease zerk in center). Any recommendations on another source for a king pin set that would work. I love my old machines and try to keep them running the best I can, as I slowly become obsolete like the rest of them. I just recently got online and love these forums. Perhaps someday I can figure out how to post pictures. Some of my machines are; two Allis Chalmers HD19s' and one 20, 1968 Terex 72-51 A, 1976 Warner Swazey 311, 1973 Case 350 w/ back hoe, old Case/Davis trencher backhoe, 1995 Case 1845, 1990s' Case 395 FWD tractor, 1980s' John Deere (Yanmar) 950 FWD tractor, 1940s' Allis Chalmers I 60 S/N 5AJ 978 (for sale/runs/bad drive to steering pump/ $800)

Might want to try these guys: Remanufactured Transmissions, Torque Converters, Engines - Joseph Industries I've bought more than several aftermarket parts through them, and have been very satisfied. I bought new master cyls. for my 480C for less, supposedly then one vendor could buy them. I see down the right menu Case King knuckle pin kits.

If you know your part #'s it's lots easier. Easy to get from the Case Construction site. Although the guy you'll be talking with, if you decide to call is Bill Pingley... Very knowledgeable on parts. Even though your a good ways away, shipping shouldn't be all that bad for small parts. They are within 100 miles of me, and if I order by 10:00 a.m., they are at my door the next day. They don't mess around shipping items out.

IF you decide to call, tell him Dave J. from Carroll, Ohio told you about them on this forum. He lived here when he was a kid, and his Dad was stationed at Lockbourne AFB near here. I told him I would spread the word, about their business. I do believe you will be well satisfied with anything you would happen to order from them.

Thanks for the response. I just found Joseph Industries through this forum. I'll give them a call. When I first looked at their website it seems I found the same problem I found elsewhere. Parts are apparently not the same as the much more common 480's and 580's. Maybe person to person will get me more information. Thanks again. By the way, Since I found this forum, I found out that My Allis Chalmers tractor is really from the 60's and the industrial version of the D15. I had been told it was a Cockshutt produced in Canada after Allis Chalmers bought them. and had not been able to find out anything more following that line of information. This obsolete old man just got on the internet, and I'm finding a whole new world.

The best way I have found, to finds parts on the internet is by a part number.

If you haven't found the Case Construction site yet, here is the link. Construction Equipment Products & Services | Case Construction

If you want to look at your hoe in exploded views, complete with part numbers, do this ( might be easier to print this off, or write it down, until you learn to navigate the site..)

After opening the link to Case Construction
1. Left click on "parts" in the top menu.
2. Left click on "Parts Catalog" on the next page that appears. Upper left corner.
3. Click on " Find parts by model" (left top rectangle box)
4. Type in your model number in the search area. (ie: 680), then click on the little magnifying glass at the right end of search block.
5. Select which model of 680 yours falls under. ( Note there are many serial number breaks on Case equipment, so definitely find your serial number )
6. Another page will appear, and it will say, "No description" in the left box. Left click on that, and to the right, a list of assemblies by name will appear.
7. Select the assembly you want to look at. A page will appear with an exploded view of said assembly, and part numbers w/description to the right.

At this point, you can either write down the part number and do a search with it (Google has worked best for me in the past) OR, click on the part, and another page will appear. At top left is the part number, which you can them copy and paste the number to your favorite search engine. Usually a link to Coleman Eq. will show up in the results, and show the current Case dealer price. A good way to compare prices. And also nice to know the part number, if you're ordering from a dealer, or someone like Joseph Ind.

And for your D-15, here is the link to AGCO Parts Books: AGCO Parts Books

Enter at bottom right, and click on "view books" beside guest user. Kinda' navigates like the Case one, only not as handy, or nice in my opinion, but found every part number I needed for my ole' M-F 180 there. Case/IH, Deere, and New Holland all have online parts books.

Welcome to the information highway...!!

I'm new to forums myself see this is a old thread but had to try to reach out to you . I have a 1966 680ck with the diesel engine. My serial number is 9101195 10 before yours i believe 910 prefix is for the year 1966 i do know mine is a 66 bought from original purchaser. Also he had original shop manual which came with machine has a stamp on page with published date and mine is stamped for 1966 build date. also oem operators manual. My 680 must of been built late in the run of 1966, and yours early 67 run. You might want to investigate the 910 prefix may have a 66.
