Case 580 brakes

Picked up a used 580 and only has 1 brake. Filled the master cylender and get pedal pressure but no stopping me yet. Suggestions??? I have owner and maintance manuals but it was late last night when I made it to that point.

What kind of a 580? Just a plain old 580 or a C or what? I can't tell you too much except that until the K model, case had some idiot in charge of the break manufacturing because they really suck!! Our 580B brakes, on both backhoes are crappy. My boss's extendahoe's are too touchy and lock up, and mine, on the standard hoe, are not strong enough sometimes, but I prefer mine over my boss's.
