Case 480D backhoe Alternator Belt Replacement

Does anyone know whether or not you have to remove the from hydraulic pump to replace the alternator belt on a Case 480D backhoe loader. The hydraulic pump is attached to the front of the crankshaft after the lower pulley. It appear that the pump has to be removed to replace the alternator belt. Is there an alternative? Thanks, Bill Treff

G'day most of the ones i have worked on you only have to undo the drive on the lower pulley and you should be able to push it back towards the pump and you can wriggle the belt through you may have to turn the coupling through 90o to get it through.

Yes I have an alternator

When the belt broke on my 480 I replaced the belt with one of those link belts. It was a little pricey but has held up great and I didn't need to remove the hydraulic pump.
