Welded up this Box to fetch firewood and things around the property.
It measures 40" X 40" X 40". Why you ask? Because I got free steel that was 120" long.
So far it has only cost me the the price of the Cat 1 pins and some welding rod. Even the Wood was a free find!!! Guess I will have to paint her JD Green in keeping with the tractor.
I also plan on fitting a scabard for my Chainsaw and a small wooden box on the front to hold 1 gal of 2cyl mix and some bar oil.

Phil,

You are a true frugal Yankee, with ingenuity. My kind of Guy. :) (I grew up in MA)

I have a few questions.

1. What size is your angle iron?

2. How much does this thing weigh?

3. Does you box sit flat on the ground?

4. How high are your pins from the bottom of the box?

I'm making some forks and want them to sit flat when in the own position.

Thanks,

Clem

The Iron is 3 inch wide heavy duty stuff. I believe each section was about 3o + lbs. and I have about 4 1/2 section in it. I mounted the Hitch pins about 8 inchs off the ground. But I don't think that makes much of a diff as I adjust the top link to get the thing to set level.
The base is PT 1 X 6 and the sides are just 1/2" plywood.

Yes, I will be mounting all sorts of hang on gizzmoes as time permits. good Idea
to use an old ammo box!

regards, Phil

Thanks Phil.

My lower 3 point arms don't touch the ground so I'd like to have the pins up high enough so that the carry box will touch the ground before the lower arms bottom out.
