Carb problem

Hi guys , I had the carb off my tractor and now that I've reinstalled it the tractor runs fine until I put the air filter on and then it starts to run like crap and black smoke comes out the exhaust what could be going on ? I was thinking maybe I'm sucking air in through a gas line .

black smoke indicates a rich fuel mixture. Re-check your carb air cleaner filter cartridge(s) to be be clean and properly installed. Also make sure carb choke mechanism is not being partially closed by installed air filter.

Thx I'll check it out tonight . Could it be sucking air were the carb mounts to the motor and cause it to run like crap?

If sucking air between carb and motor it would be running lean. Black smoke, as rcbe stated, indicates a rich mixture (too much fuel / not enough air). Check your air cleaner, also verify nothing is pushing the choke closed. Something is restricting air flow.

Thx for all the tip guys , I'll try and fix this tonight so I can cut the grass over the weekend . Its getting long
