Where do I begin.....
I sold a load of hay and then delivered it this morning. On the way back, I spot this nice looking 8 ' EZ Flow lime/fertilizer spreader sitting along the road with a for sale sign displayed.

5 minutes later, I'm loading something I surely don't need. Can't pass by a bargain though. The first words out of the Mrs. mouth were, "What are you going to do with it"? Hmmmmmmmm......? Guess it'll have MY for sale sign on it in a day or 2.

Bill, if you don't mind, how much did you pay for that spreader? It looks to be in amazing shape and well taken care of. I have a 5' version that was left out under a tree on the farm we bought 10 years ago and it was siezed up. Spent a lot of time and oil and replaced the lever and it was back to working shape. But I have no need for one either:rolleyes:

I do need a couple more gravity wagons on gears if you happen to run across some great deals. I just bought a 200 bushel New Holland for $455 in Ohio. So if you happen to find some in great shape like that EZ-flow for $250 or so pick them up for me and I will toss you a $5 finders fee;)

You can expect to pay $400+ for even the roughest wagon running gear here these days. I bought one last week that needs a new bed (hay wagon) for $450 (Kory 8-ton gear w/ decent tires) Gravity boxes generally sell $600 to $1000 for older 175 bu and smaller.

And we need to discuss my "finders fee". ;) I'm easy, just not cheap!

I paid $125 for the spreader. (seller was asking $150) I had a potential buyer in mind. I gave him a call just a few minutes ago. He's on the way here now with a crisp new $250 dollar bill in hand and a trailer to haul his EZ Flow home. Cha CHING!

Well, how about $10 finders fee then:D

I plan on keeping an eye on ebay as you can find nice older gravity wagons for decent prices still (which is where the New Holland is coming from, bought it from the guy I bought my MF 880 plow from). The newer, larger wagons go for around $2k, if it has an auger then you can add $500-$1k to the price depending on where the seller is located.

What I am expecting is a bunch of these gravity wagons will be coming up on the market now since a lot of people bought corn stoves and wagons to haul their fuel but with the high corn prices now some of these people are changing to a different fuel and selling their wagons.

I do hope to find another item to buy first before I drive 4 hours to pick up the gravity wagon. A second wagon would make the trip so much nicer:)

Found a 6' Rear Blade and an Aerator for $50... it was on Craig's list and I was a little late on the deal, so I offered $60 and said I can be there in 30 mins. I couldn't load it fast enough :D It was a young kid that was cleaning a house that was foreclosed. He didn't know what it was worth, he just wanted them gone!!!

I used an 8' New Idea Easy Flow to spread pulverized limestrone this spring and it worked really well. I think mine is an older model, but also in good shape:eek:

FWJ:

I DO NOT KNOW THE PRICE THEY BRING, BUT I SEE THESE LIME/FERTILIZER SPREADERS AROUND HERE ALL THEM TIME. MOST ARE NOT IN AS GOOD AS SHAPE AS THE ONE YOU FOUND, BUT THEY ARE IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE.

ARE THERE ANY REAL ADVANTAGES TO USING THAT TYPE OF SPREADER VERSUS THE TYPICAL SPREADER YOU SEE MOUNTED ON A THREE POINT HITCH AND SHAPED LIKE A FUNNEL?

AS FOR ROBERT, I COULDN'T FIND HIM ANY GRAVITY WAGONS FOR THAT PRICE EITHER. SORRY ROBERT.

More accurate placement. Less dust. All at the expense of being slower.

When you get the crisp $250 dollar bill, could you please post a photo. I've never seen one of those? It wouldn't have a picture of Clinton on it would it?:D

Your plow awaits on EBAY! Saw one listed yesterday. It has a "Buy it now" price of $1400!

I might have made myself rich dealin' in equipment, 'cept for my simularity to Al Bundy..............MARRIED, with children. ;)

Holy crap batman! Has it never been used and/or is it coated in platinum?!?

Edit: I just went and looked it up. Here's a link to it. You're wrong about the price. The starting bid is $1500; the "Buy It Now" price is $1800!!! It doesn't even look that great. Sure, it's got new paint and decals on it but I don't think that's $1,000 worth of paint! It doesn't even have coulters let alone a tailwheel for crying out loud! The nerve!

It seems when I find a bargin I know I can pass on to some one else at a profit I get attached to it by the time I get it home and I keep it.

Same here. That's the other reason I'm not rich.

I saw a sign on a truck yesterday:
"DRIVER CARRIES NO CASH: HE'S MARRIED"
