I have a
BX24 on twenty acres of bumpy meadow, forest, and old logging ruts. Could I use a bigger tractor? Sure I could, especially for fixing the rutted logging areas, but the BX can do it too. One important job I'm using it for is to build trails through the woods. I generally walk through with the pole chain saw and clear a path, then follow with the FEL popping out what roots I can, then flip around and get the bigger stuff with the backhoe. One thing I will say, a toothbar for the FEL is an absolute must. I can't believe how much more useful the tractor is now. I can pull out some fairly decent sized stuff just with the FEL. Later I'll put on the boxblade and smooth everything out.
Later this summer, when our home site is being cleared, I'll just hire the bulldozer to smooth out the bumpy meadow.
I do like the small size of the tractor for making trails. I want a trail that looks like a trail, not a road. Eventually, the tractor will be mainly used as a lawnmower anyway.
A 7610 with a toothbar would be able to do a lot of work too.
If you go with the
BX2350 or 24, I would definitely get the rear skip plate from Bro-Tek. I know I would have wasted that hydro fan by now with all the sticks and stuff I drive over. I've been stuck in the mud or rutted areas a few times, but have always been able to get myself out with the BH and FEL.
Somebody on here told me about a feature on the FEL. If you move the lever all the way to the right past a stop, it does a bucket dump with higher force. I was able to use this to creep forward out of the mud a couple of times. Another TBN rescue.
