Hi,
We have had this on our farm since the 1960's, when I was just young. I'm pretty sure that it's an Eversman automatic land leveler that telescopes, but there are no readable id marks on it. Since I am the last of the clan, I don't have anyone to ask about it. It's going to be auctioned off with the rest of our farm equipment so I'd like to know what it is, as google hasn't been a great friend in this case.

Thanks,

gwfami

Definitely a land leveler - like a road grader. Brand - ??

They used to be called a land plane, they where common in flood irrigation country to get a field level before planting and corrugating for irrigation using siphon tubes out of ditches and gated pipe.
You couldn't have any high or low spots or your water wouldn't go where is was desired.
Usually the box blade was more in the middle some would even have a blade shaped similar to a wing behind the wheels to help in compacting and leveling a field while maintaining the required slope for the water to flow/

Thanks,
We used it to work our roads and pipe irrigated land (not siphon tubes, but irrigation pipes). Any idea what brand/model it is? This particular one could hydraulically telescope to make it longer/shorter as you desired. A friend thinks they have found an additional extension to make it even longer in a weedy part of the land.

Google doesn't show anything like this with the roller in front and the ability to telescope.

Know of any pictures/history or that sort of thing? I'm not finding much on eversman online.

Thanks,

I haven't run across any eversman telescoping levelers, and the patent provided by mxg342 seems to be almost identical to my leveler, but the patent was assigned to Case/IH, so I have contacted the Case/IH archives to see what they can find. In one of the pictures of the side, if you squint just right, you can see something like "International".

We had one very similar on the farm. We called it a land plane. Every summer, when the crops were laid by, we would take in 100 acres or so more farm ground. We would cut the timber off, use the dozer to push up stumps, then the fun begin picking up stumps and roots by hand. No grapple in those days!

Then we would use the land plane to level the field. It did a wonderful job when operated correctly.

I got one of my worst whippings from my dad running that thing one year. I made a mistake that I never made again, that is for sure! Funny thing is that is the day I learned how to weld too. It had to hold or another whipping was coming!

Thanks for the memory.

There's a great picture of it and a description too on that press release.

I remember we borrowed one once on the farm when I was a kid. To level out a small area of the field where water would run off too quickly. I remember it being very similar to this, but over the blade it had a large pendulum that would swing from side to side indicating level. But I was very small, probably 9 or 10 years old.

Yeah, they don't turn up in google searches very easy, so maybe weren't too common. Hard to find any info on them at all.
