Can this be repaired ?

Thanks guys. I did get it apart. There is a tool that comes with the rebuild kit. It's a ring that has to be put on so the internal gland ring can slip past the groove when pulling it out.

Yep, shook my memory, I've rebuilt those. Glad you got it apart.
