Can someone explain the \"regen\" function on loader

Stupid question I guess, but what does the "regen" function do. I'm not near my tractor to try it out, and didn't read that part of the manual before jumping on the tractor this weekend..Is it just a fast dump? Whats the benefit of usiing it?
