It seems that the mid PTO hangs a little too low for my comfort. Has anyone removed theirs and replaced with a plate and a gasket? Looking at my handy parts manual, it seems that the mid PTO just mounts under the transmission with 4 bolts.

I guess next time I change the hydraulic fluid, I'll remove the mid PTO and make a cover for it. Anyone done this?

I have a b2150hsd, I guess the previeous owner removed it because all I have there is a plate and the tractor runs fine.

What kind of tractor do you have and what seems to be the problem that you think that you'll have with the mid-PTO?

How about a mid-PTO shaft cover?? I have a B2150HSD. On my tractor the mid-PTO works simultaneously with the rear PTO (they operate independently on newer Kubota tractors) and had a problem with grass wrapping around the mid-PTO shaft while using the rear rotary mower. The grass that was tightly would around the spinning mid-PTO finally caught fire and dropped off...not a good thing in a field full of dry grass. Luckily nothing catastrophic happened. But I did learn that there is a cover for the mid-PTO that eliminates that problem. If that is similiar to your problem then I would recommend that cover rather than removing the mid-PTO.
