2013 Kioti DK40SE HST
Hello All!

My tractor been sitting for few months. I'm at my camp now and went to start it and got a rapid fire click click (like a machine gun firing, but not quite!). Put it on trickle charger and it's getting 1/2 crank but that's it...not been on too long (couple hours). My question is can I just jump it from my Silverado? It is a small area to make the connections with the jumper cables but I think it's doable.

Figured I'd ask before I possibly fry something....of course no one around at almost 3pm Saturday of a holiday weekend!

Happy 4th of July everyone!!

You sure can, however I would recommend an F150 for this task instead of your Chevy. . But perhaps that's a different forum. ;)

Hope you have a wonderful and reflective Independence Day!

Also, I bought it new in 2013 and have never had it on trickle charger etc. This is first time ever having battery with low voltage. Do you guys keep your tractors on trickle chargers? I do use mine throughout the year so no "storage season".

My 2007 DK40se has never failed to start even though it sits unstarted from December to April. Still using original battery. About five years ago I decided it would be wise to leave it on a trickle charger over the winter but even before that it did fine. First start in the spring was always in 30-40 degree F weather.

I'd suggest a trickle charger if not using it for more than a month. Solar powered would be fine if the camp doesn't have mains electric service.

A regular jump from your truck should start it right up.

I have had my NX sit for several months without running and always starts right up (even in winter) but I keep it inside my workshop. Once, I left the key in the accessory position with the radio on and fully depleted the battery. I tried to trickle charge it with a battery tender, but it didn't work. Had to jump it, which worked great. May have been partially because the charger was poor quality (HF). Enjoy!

As others said, jump start from your truck should start it right up. Using a trickle charger you'd have to wait over night before the battery had enough juice to start it. Jumping from the truck will get it going then the charging system will top it off.

I use a a desulfating charger .. batterymider. Amazon.com: BatteryMINDer Model 151: 12Volt 1.5 Amp Maintenance Charger/Desulfator: Automotive

My tractor use to site for months at a time and never had a problem starting it until 2 years ago.... and that battery was old, as in over 5 years old. I needed to get my tractor moved and since I couldn't start it with a portable jump starter, I picked up a new battery and the batteryminder. It's suppose to keep the battery desulfated, so I'm hoping I won't need to replace the battery again for a decade.

Red from the truck to red on the battery.

Black on the truck to a good ground on the tractor frame, NOT TO BLACK ON THE BATTERY.

Probably safer to say to match +/- polarities.. With last connection to chassis.

;)
