Yes. Look up Popfax or Myfax. Both say they can send a fax from a smartphone via the internet.

i saw those.. but that's not exactly what i was thinking of. those send thru a client.. ie. you send the document to them.. they send the fax.

i was thinking more along the lines of i have a pdf, word or jpg document on my phone, I put in the fax number i'm sending to, and my phone contacts that fax directly like fax to fax.

seems like it should be possible technology wise. it's all data. fax ain't much more than a modem and printer, and it speaks a set language. .. and a smart phone is a modem and 5000 other things.

Someone uses FAX still? Just kidding, but, really? If you have a PDF, send the PDF. The receiver of the PDF doesn't have the technology to receive a PDF and still uses FAX? Let me quess.... is it to a government agency?

We've had great success with taking a picture of a document and sending that to someone that needs a copy of something right away.

Yea, as Moss said, just attach the PDF and send it to an email acct., but to a phone #, not sure.

Before I sold my company, I had a company tell me they could fax the doc but couldn't email it. What? Just attach the doc and email it already.... Very frustrating.

Road inspectors here have an odd habit of wanting something asap, at 4:55pm, that they need faxed into their office, and they need this from you, and you are standing with them out on the job, 45m from your office, and if you don't get it in, suddenly they can't get purchasing to approve your draw you turned in 2 weeks ago, and since purchasing only cuts checks for road projects once per month, if you don't get the document in you wait another month for your $$, and then you and the subs set there and wait it out, open payables list gets ling.. Etc.

Sound made up? It's what happened this afternoon... And I've seen it like the last 3 pay requests... Even better, they actually got their request in to me EARLY today, 4:25.. I got it sent in, then at the last minute, they decided they made a mistake on what they asked me to send, so needed to resend, even though I'm already enroute to another project .. It gets hairy when their mistakes will still hop your check 30 more days. I mean I can do word and PDF on my phone, cans hand write stuff and take a pic, can text it, can email, etc, but sometimes they want a fax with a SIG on it.. Pita it is..

When I was a road inspector for Marion County we had one desk top computer to share between 5 inspectors. And we only logged on at most once per week. Now, I work for a consulting firm and have it all on phone.
