I bought a new cam tilt a few years ago. 14k gvw with all the extra's. 3' of stationary deck, 16' of tilt, LED lights, spare tire, stake pockets, fork carrier built in.
I loaded my 7000 lb excavator, went to the job site. Backed the excavator off and the tail of the trailer bent conforming to the crown of the road when I backed the excavator off. Had several other issues as well. One fender was mounted a couple inches forward of the other, the D rings they mounted weren't painted etc... etc....
They came and got my trailer, took it back to Penn. to work on it (no spare trailer, I was w/o for 5 or 6 days).
Trailer came back with a new tail. Loaded the excavator, tail bent again.
Called them back, as well as complained about several other issues.
They finally opted to give me a new trailer with a "super heavy tail".
New trailer arrived, got it home, loaded the tractor, pulled out of the driveway, NO BRAKES!. Crawled underneath and the wires for the brakes had been strung on top of the axles between the frame and where the axles bottom out. Pinched off the wires. Cam and dealer said I was on my own.
The underslung axles keep breaking the U bolts. Poor design, the U bolts support the entire weight of the load and trailer. I have bought everything I need to flip the springs on top of the axles so the weight is on top, not suspended.
I work the trailer daily. I purchased a Cam as they said they were an industrial duty heavy trailer. For something that is loaded to 1/2 of it's capacity, it has had nothing but issues. I spent $6800.00 on the purchase of the trailer. At this point I have well over $9k into it, so I can't afford to sell it. I'll never buy another Cam.
