What do I do with my free time? I watch the news on tv all day and yell at it.
. Not really.
Do you ski at mt bohemia? Was thinking of your place with the epic recent snowstorm totals, Arly. Figured you got at least 2 feet. 52" is unreal, though.
Bummer for mt bohemia that they missed out on this recent storm, but the season has been great overall.
It was 76° downstate last Friday... snowing a little today but we're sure ready for spring.
Only snowboarded there once, some years ago. Would love to go back but the 11 hour drive is a major barrier. But I love the concept of wild mountain with no grooming and only natural snow, best vertical drop in Michigan, and had a blast there for a couple great days. So I follow their updates a bit.Do you ski at mt bohemia?
I have been to Bohemia once about 15 years ago. It was before Christmas and at the time they had the deepest snowpack of any resort in the US. I can't remember how much but I do recall 3 foot embankments along the roads already.Only snowboarded there once, some years ago. Would love to go back but the 11 hour drive is a major barrier. Honestly what I would love to see is some more investments into Mt Marquette, that place has a lot of potential but has been run on a shoestring budget for a long time now. Their lifts are decrepit.
We know folks here who run dogs. When will you be back to visit us??Haven't read this entire thread yet but got to the point where OP got the camp in Covington. I've bird hunted that area for 30 years or so, mostly south near Amasa, Crystal Falls, and west toward Iron River. My second setter pup was from Crystal Falls. Have always wanted to retire and move to the UP but we've now bought our own "snow camp" on the Tug Hill plateau in NY. My wife still does a lot of dryland and snow sled dog racing on the UP, lower P, and Wisconsin. Very interested to see how progress on the camp goes this spring.
don't know if we'll make it there this fall or not, we have a friend in Calumet who used to run sled dogs but now is more into hare coursing. My wife is possibly looking at a dog in WI next month but I think she's planning on driving through Chicago rather than across the UP. I'll let you know next time I'm up there, I've camped just about everywhere on the UP, although near you I'm almost always either in Mass City or closer to Bruce Crossing. We know folks here who run dogs.
