I have been thinking about getting something that would let me shutdown the whole house generator at night when we do not need it running. We went through a lot of propane this spring when we had no power for 17 days. Was looking at the Honda but I leaning more towards the Bluetti or similar now.

We had a lot of outages in California. We had a UPS for the wifi equipment and a small Jackery battery to run a light. We could shut the generator off for a couple hours during the day and again in the evening. At night everything's off.

This worked great until we got a new fridge a couple years ago. It had less cooling capacity than the 20 year old one it replaced. Each day it would work all day to cool down but would not get all the way. Each day it would end up a degree or two warmer. After a week it would be well off what it was supposed to cool to. Once I figured this out I ran the generator longer just to help the fridge out.

Here's how power consumption has been at camp so far. The battery is fully charged and this is normally done in a day. That evening when its dark outside, we start the generator and get a few extra lights going and charge anything that needs it and that is when saw batteries also get charged. The solar panel controller also has a 2 USB ports for charging that we have also used. Fuel consumption on the generator is pretty low and not yet used enough to measure it yet, but will since I have a can dedicated for it now. After makita batteries are changed and cooking done, we can shut the generator down whenever we care to.

We've owned this Honda 2000 generator for many years and had quite good luck with it. Of course one needs to keep a fuel stabilizer in its tank. (I use sea foam)

View out the back, with fire pit. His rustic firewood storage will get updated sometime. That is carpet remnants seen on the ground.

Being at camp is all about trail clearing, gathering firewood, relaxing and romping in the woods unrestricted.

Looks like a really nice spot you got there!! And it is just going to keep getting better!

Agreed - that's a good spot given the angle of the sun is decreasing day by day in the northern hemisphere, Here's a good government tool (yes they do exist :) for calculating production based on location. YMMV Welcome - System Advisor Model - SAM

Remove some trees around the cabin then a ground mount array would work well to get most of the power you need out there.

Moose are on the move. Thanks to the Upper Peninsula Moose Research Project, launched earlier this year, we’re getting new insights into how these animals move as the seasons change.

Here you can see the paths of three moose (a cow and her twin calves) that were collared earlier this year. The data show current movements: while one of the twins is staying in the Keweenaw, the mother and her other calf have traveled south and split, as moose often do once they reach a certain age.

We’re seeing expanded movement patterns that reflect the seasonal shift as moose leave their northern summer range and head south for winter.

If you missed our Friday post about recent moose updates, check it out. We hope you find this data as interesting as our biologists do as this collaborative study continues.

The more pics you post of the cabin, the cozier it appears to be.

Dearest has a birthday over the weekend, so we are heading back on Thursday and she's taking time off that will extend our stay. I'm getting items ready for that and this will be the longest stay yet. Lots of things we're not set up for as of yet. We got rain moving in over thew weekend but it is a camp with a roof. 😆 What to bring, what to bring...

Well, hope the chance is not too much rain.
We are finally supposed to get some rain here, I know you said it was more rain where you are than normal?
