Wow that is some high elevation. 1800 ft at the top there? Within spitting distance of our state's highest point.

Looks awesome.
1780 is the highest elevation I note near this property but its not far from Mount Arvon at 1,979 feet which is the highest in the the state. It is rough, hilly country that my lame photos can not capture.

If you want a long x-country ski season... you're in the right spot with that one eh.

We are attempting to look at the last mentioned property and another on Saturday and that one has less acres, less elevation change and closer to Houghton.

We are putting in a bid on this one folks. A realtor got it us inside and after that we walked around the circumference of the property. (sorta) Gosh is it rough country and with some old trees. Below are old pics and I need to processes the ones we took today.

Is this the unfinished log home on 100 acres, next to a pond? or am I confusing several different properties?

I hope you get it. I like the pond and elevation

We of course imagine that others will show up and bid against us, now that they got ours in! Since this property went on the market late last summer, few have looked at it, and no one has made them a offer. We hope its off other buyers radar.

The same time we were out there looking at the cabins interior and hiking the property again, the owners lowered the price by 25K. We also learned its being sold by the parents because the owner had died of cancer at 50+ of age a year ago. They didn't know there was a cabin out on this property. Seems they are motivated to sell it.

If you have good water to the cabin, and power, it's got a ton of potential!!!

Power is .7 of a mile away and I'm told not cost effective to bring in.. So it would be off-grid. Most camps pound in a sand point down and get water what I could call "a shallow" well. The hill this camp is built on seems to be a ancient sand dune.

Off Grid makes me nervous. I know a few people that did it and they all ended up selling and moving to a house with power.

I would talk to the power company and see what the cost is to bring power there. In my case, I was asked how much power I will be using by filling out a form that they had that lists everything I plan on using the power for. I included barns, shops, two houses and all my power tools. They said that I met their requirement to run it to my place for free. If I remember correctly, it was close to 2,000 feet. They had to go across the highway, down the highway to my property line, then another 800 feet into my place. I think they installed ten poles just to get here.

I checked about bringing power to our hunting land (about 1/4 mile) It was about $1.00/foot.
