RichB,

It pretty obvious to me that my TD95D has hydraulic brake actuation (2 master cylinders and a brake fluid reservior). Unfortunatley my official NH service manual's Brake Section (Section 33) shows mechanical brakes. My owner's manual refers to a hydraulic system but the trouble shooting guide says "see dealer".
How can I get the right section in the manual for dealing with any brake issue?

The unit has 270 hours on it and I know the brakes are not worn out. The pedal goes almost to the floor and if you pump the pedal, the pedal comes up so it either has a leak (no signs of fluid dripping) or it was never filled properly and bled, etc and has some air in the system. Rather than climb under it and figure out where the bleeders are at, I'd like to have the correct section of the shop manual so I can understand the system and fix the issue.

Is ther any advice you can give me on how to get the proper section of the manual and/or where I can find a good system schematic so I can bleed the system?

Thanks in advance

87658941 is book 3 of complete manual 87658943 which covers the TD 80D & TD95D. Book 3 covers brakes, hydraulics, steering and 2WD front axles. Page 6 of section 33 is a line drawing of the hydraulic brake system showing wet disc brakes with ball style actuators and externally mounted slave cylinders mounted on either side of the transmission housing in front of the rear axles. If that's what you have, that is the complete manual set or the specific volume you need.

Edit: Use Only New Holland Mineral Brake Oil!!

Thanks for your reply, Rick.
My complete unit is labeled 87572972 and consists of 87572973 - 76 plus the Table of Contents which is 87572977 and the Model Number says TD75, TD95D,and TD95D High Clearance You list different number books for the same model numbers.(?)

My 87572975 (first printing 7/06)and it says it is for TD75D TD95D and TD95D High Clearance. It has Section 31 (PTO), Section33 (Brakes), Section 35 (Hydraulics), and Section 41 (Steering).

Since my TD95D is a 2007,...... that's most likely my problem. I'll bet there is some model differences between the earlier versions and the 2007 and on. But why would the manual be labeled for a TD95D and not list applicable model years? Strange system!

I'm aware of the requirements for the brake fluid. The owner's manual has a warning in it as I recall.

Are you aware of major differences between the pre-2007 TD95D's and the 2007 and on Models? Do I have to buy a different set of books for my 2007 TD95D ?

Looks to me as if you have the manual published for high clearance tractors; says so right in the title. If you want the service manual for the manual hydraulic service brakes, you will have to get out the credit card if the manual you have covers mechanically operated brakes only.

Alternatively, you can find the slave cylinders in the general location I described, top off the fluid in the master cylinder reservoir, bleed the slaves and check for leaks (there won't be any internal components, leaks will end up on the ground).

G'day you will find the brakes are adjustable on the actuator rods as well they are down under the slave cyl's that Rick mentioned, do not have them too tight though or the brakes will be constantly dragging.

Adjusting the mechanical linkage will decrease the slave cylinder travel and return some fluid to the reservoir. Also will increase pedal height. As Jon says, be careful not to bring them up too far.

The problem is that the manual says it covers not only the high clearance but the basic TD95D and the TD75D.New Holland TD75D TD95D TD95D High CLEARANCE Tractor Service Repair Manual | eBay Some how I was supposed to divine the difference.Oh well. I guess I'll just have to buy the TD80 & TD95D and ebay the the manual I have.(It looks like the NH pricing is comparable to the ebay levels. That's a surprise. Is there anyreason not to get the pdf version that you are aware of.)

Thanks for your help on this issue. You always come through!

I'm going to bleed the system first since the unit only has 275 hrs on it and they're pretty easy hours (no heavy tillage, etc) so I don't think wear is the issue. Then I'll adjust the brakes. I'll leave a little room for overflow in the MC just in case and top it off after.
I have had to add fluid to every sump so I think the originating dealer didn't prep the machine well, if at all. Certainly the original owner who put 92 hrs on it didn't check anything.

Thanks for your input. I'll get back if I have any other issues with the brakes.

Same problem here with my TD80D, push the pedal down, good brakes, but hold it down for a little bit and they go to the floor. The resevoir is full as far as I can tell, there are no leaks, but cannot diagnose the problem to fix it before hay season starts again....HELP
