Cadillac of tractors?

I had a Trophy boat that took me to all the big waters that the Grady's and Whalers inhabitat. That Trophy boat was a real good one and part of that reason why was the dealer.

As for tractors, I think a big Green one would fill the shoes of Cadillac pretty well....

Take your pick.:D

Pretty. I wonder how the n8 would sand up in an arm wrestling contest with my Jinma. Not which is stronger able to lift more, which can go till something breaks or overheats.

I gotta admit....the Boomer 8N is likely the Caddilac of CUT's. Good pick.

I don't get all the use of "CUT".

Growing up on a farm, where a compact tractor is near about useless... Well, not useless, but definitely almost un-necessary, but I digress... The word "utility" in "CUT" of "Compact Utility Tractor" is wrong. Compact tractors, which is what industry experts call it, is fitting. It is a compact tractor, and has very little "utility".

To the industry a "Utility" tractor is something like an JD 5030 series, or a Case IH 45. They may only have 40 HP, but they have much larger, heavier, sturdy chassis. Another example is a Massey Ferguson 2600 series.

Just thought I'd get that off of my chest.

I have no idea if the OP uses this phrase very often on here, but I just saw it, and I wanted to address it. I've never heard the term "CUT" from someone that works for any of the compact tractor companies, and I know a bunch of them.

Maybe nobody cares, but I thought I'd just interject that small bit of info.

Well....now you may be right when just specifying a UTILITY tractor.....but I said CUT.....which is a COMPACT UTILITY TRACTOR. Read all three words together....repeat as needed.....until u get it right. I rest my case. :D:D

OH....and if you look at JD's site (which you supplied) they DO in fact list a compact utility lineup. ;)

Then my L4350 would definitely qualify for your definition of Utility tractor. Maybe the "compact" part differentiates from the Ag definition. I have the last series Kubota made before they started the "homeowners Line" and then continued the AG line in earnest. Glad I have it and have found it unmatched in it's utility until I got my B7800. Guess it is a matter of WHERE the utility takes place.

I (the OP) don't believe I used the term CUT in this thread, not that it matters.

However, "CUT" or "C.U.T." if you prefer, is just an acronym for Compact Utility Tractor, as in a Utility Tractor that is smaller, aka Compact, aka smaller than a typical Utility Tractor.

You're right JD does have "Compact Utility Tractor" listed. Never seen that before, and all the JD company people I know, I've never heard them use it... called a couple to shoot the breeze and also asked them about it, say nobody in the company actually uses the term. Leave it to JD to try and confuse the customers. A compact tractor is NOT a utility tractor. :confused2:

Oh well.

u·til·i·ty
1.The quality or condition of being useful; usefulness: "I have always doubted the utility of these conferences on disarmament" (Winston S. Churchill).
2.A useful article or device.

11.having or made for a number of useful or practical purposes rather than a single, specialized one: a utility knife.
12.designed chiefly for use or service rather than beauty, high quality, or the like: a utility vehicle; utility furniture

If anything, the adjective utility seems redundant or obvious when referring to just about any tractor.

A CUT is a small tractor that can do almost the same work of a much larger tractor with much less impact on the land. You can mow your grass with a CUT or you can mow your grass with a full size tractor. The full size tractor description should relieve your CUT or utility tractor description concerns. Then the choice would be between mowing your yard with a 35HP tractor that weighs 4,000 pounds or a 35 HP tractor that weighs 2,000 pounds. The CUT's aren't dedicated farm tractors. They are for doing everything. They are a compromise.

Oh well.

I grew up in the farm equipment biz....and you are right about a utility tractor for ag use. But the little N size tractors were utility tractors in their time.....which would be small according to your standards. While their may not be much "ag utility" in a CUT.....I can assure you thier is plenty of utility for the owners. A compact segment didnt really exist until the 70's IRRC. I also first saw the CUT term used on this site.....It grows on you.:laughing:
