Perhaps this is obvious but I'll ask anyway. In all of the literature I've poked thru and all of the cabs I've looked around in I can't find anything about built-in ROPS. I'm sure they must be there though....right?

OK, so is that something molded into the fiberglass (or whatever the cab is made of) or is the cab 'free standing' and able to guard on its own?

The cab has four metal posts to support the cab. They are just covered with plastic or sound damping material on the inside. It's just like a four pilar rops/fops with more creature comforts.

No problem. I think what I said is right. I don't think our government would allow a tractor company to build a cab with out some sort of rops built in with at least 2 steel posts. If it rolled the person would be killed pretty quick if it was a big tractor.

What about older tractors. In about a year or so, I'll be looking for my next tractor for our growing little agricultural fleet, and it'll have a cab, and probably no newer than the 60's or maybe early 70's.

You will have to examine the cabs on older tractors for strength. Some of those were just cabs with no real frame in them.

Also seat belts were not manditory then and now they are. The cab and rops needs to be OSHA certified and stuff like that I believe. Look on the roll bar or cab on a new tractor and you will see if it's certified or not.

Hey Rich,

If I was you and going for a cabbed tractor, look for one with a factory installed ISO type cab. Best ones off the top of my head in the 60s that were available over here came from Case and Zetor. Massey had some that were not too bad. The other companies used aftermarket suppliers. Most of the aftermarket cabs were great for sound amplification, not deadening..... By the mid to late 70s the US based manufacturers had embraced ergonomics and factory cabs.
