Cabela's Tractors

Bud I got my dash from TYM last weekend. I ordered it the week before. I went by Cabelas and showed Scott the receipt. He made a copy and said he would try to get me reimbursed. BTW Hudson's Hardware in Clayton is a new TYM dealer. Scott called the dealer and told them I had the wrong part number. The new dash has TYM that lights up in white, the tach has moved down and the bottom is flat. Of corse the part number changed. It looks good and works good so far. It was 465.16. that includes tax. Put about 10 hours on it this weekend. 14 Hours total so far including about 8 hours yesterday mowing a pasture.

Scott says I am the only one who's dash has failed. Also says I am the only one with hydraulic leak under the dash. Bud I figured out how to tel if Scott is lying. Watch his lips if they are moving he is lying.

The leak under the steering wheel is the seal in the top of the orbital valve. The service manual says to replace the seal and dust seal but TYM doesn't sell the seal. The orbital valve sells for 909.00. When I get time I am going to take it off and tear it down. I should be able to get the seals at Lamberts Small Engine Repair in Smithfield NC. They do hydraulics repair and should have the seals in stock.

Everything I have ordered from Cabelas has taken at least 4 weeks to get anything. The TYM dealer got the dash in hand in three days. When he called to tell me it was in I thought there was something else wrong.

If Cabelas is not going to stand behind there contracts and this tractor THEY HAVE TO MAKE THE PARTS MANUALS AVABLE TO US. It's time for us to organize and lawyer up. If I can't get parts 10 years from now then I need to cut my loss and stop spending money on this tractor. This thing has to last 20 years. The John Deer (Yanmar)I sold after I bought this tractor was 37 years old and I was starting to find body parts that I could not get any more.

Thanks for the info alangdon62. So scott can't remember talking to anyone else about tractor problems? LOL Yeah he acted like I was the only one to have any problems with their tractors. Scott is full of shi!! My steering seal stopped leaking now that it has warmed up some but my display is still fading. So you are saying that I will have to replace the whole dash when all I need is the small display on the right side?

Parts for a TYM 454 should be the same as my tractor.
The attorney general should handle these problems.

Mine is the T354. I talked to Travis at Hudson's yesterday and said that the same cluster fits all of the tractors. And yes it does not break down any farther. I got to see the regen process from the start Saturday. 1st time Iv'e seen it on before I smelled it. mine has 234 hours on it now. Also on the cabelas dash it's lighting up the exhaust over temp when it regenerates. The TYM cluster is lighting up the regen symbol. The new cluster sweeps the tach needle when you turn key on.
The part number for the cluster is (TYM1746660). The bottom of my dash is off. Trying to keep the hydro fluid off the computer. It's mounted right under the orbital valve. Two M10 bolts on the fire wall and the M13 right in front of the steering wheel. there are 4 screws and 2 wire plugs and it's out. Scott wants my old cluster. I said sure, It cost 465.16. No checks, cash only! And 1 hour labor. My boss charges 145.00 an hour and that sounds like a good number.

I thought it wasn't leaking hyd. fluid as bad as it was.

I guess that is the same Part # that will fit my tractor then. Did you install it or the dealer? Plug right in? Please let me know if Cabela's pays the bill for it. I just don't want to go out of my own pocket so I am going to wait until it goes out to replace. I hope nothing really bad like the hydro or engine goes out any time soon. I took my DPF off at 12 hours so never had a regen on mine. Thanks.

/ Cabela's Tractors #25
I installed it. Took about 45 minutes. Yes plugged right in. I will post if they buy the old cluster. I WILL NOT GVE IT TO THEM. I would not let Scott even look at the old one.

I've a little LM25. As posted last year, I had plastic fuel tank crack. And muffler crack at manifold bracket. After calling cabelas service. Was told to contact tym dealer. Two wouldn't touch unless I paid for it. Got letter from TYM USA corporate starting to dealer that TYM was not responsible and would not warranty the machines. I called cabelas back and talked with the assistant mgr and manager told service to order my parts. I had to install myself. At end of year bumper to bumper ended and so did all cabelas service departments. They are all now owned by a third party and only work on bass pro stuff by contract. And I expect they won't order any parts. Don't know as I haven't broken anything yet. Btw, all parts on mine are identical to tym machines. Yes, it might be class action time if they don't perform. Btw, I was told initial purchase cabelas would pick up for service. If, tym is to service, I'm 100 miles from closest...
Big change. Keep posting any updates guys.

Update on week 7 of the Cabelas TYM tractor bullcrap!
So the tractor got sent to a dealer that has been great to work with and willing to help. After being told by Scott at Cabelas that they would take care of it they havent. When the shop wanted the $4,000 for the parts order Scott was told he couldn't give it to them. Now all of a sudden the Cabelas assistant manager Chad is involved(their GM Tammy is cluleless) and got corporate involved and they are trying to secure parts from Korea. After being given all the information I have waited a week on the parts timeline so I can update the shop...........Guess what........ No response. So I am now out of pocket $4,000 for parts and my tractor should be fixed by end of next week. Maybe they will be kind enough and pay the estimated $1,600 in labor? I really want to get it fixed so I can drive it right thru the front doors of Cabelas! They need to stick to selling boots and camo since they suck at everything ,else. I blame myself and no one else! JD Green is what it should have been!

It took about a month to get my fuel tank from Korea, none in stock in US. The muffler was in stock and was about 2 weeks before they called me. It takes 3 weeks to slow boat the parts from Asia. Minimum. Give them a bit of time, but not too much before hollering. I'd find lawyer for 4k

All the parts are in stock within 30 miles and one day delivery. They just don't want to pay the dealer for them! Too much time has gone by already!!!

What a rotten way to look after customers, this is not good.

The first time that I heard of a Cabela tractor (SCUT)- it was from an ad in a magazine. I couldn't believe it, WOW. Didn't interest me though as there was nothing local to check them out.

I just thought they were interesting ... basically branding a TYM unit / Yanmar engine with Cabela labels / colours.

Does YANMAR stand behind it at all ?

all the best, in getting the repairs / service. Not Cool.

No one will honor Cabelas warranty. TYM USA is very clear about not even selling items like oil filters and such to a Cabelas / TYM tractor customers. Had a regen problem and Yanmar ran a code update and fixed it. I had to pay for it. I have been a Cabelas customer for 35+ years, but that has ended. Their customer service on the Power Sports side really sucks. I am really regretting the purchase......a good quote which i always try and live by:
"the discounted price will long be forgotten when the problems show up and no one honors their promise!" I just knew Cabelas would stand behind their product, but they have shown otherwise!

Lawyer up. Small claims or major. Hey someone who wants a class action lawsuit. Like I said earlier, mine is still running with no issues right now, but several years of engine and drivetrain warranty left and the prior service manager said they would NOT work on tractors after 1 1 18

Wow- that is a real bummer.

Wonder where (Tractor Guy) went...

i remember the statements about Cabelas being in it for the Long run.

advising Cabela's about the important things that need to be in place in order to be successful. Quality product, great parts & service support, a focus on customer service, competitive pricing and stablility.

The irony of those that question Cabela's commitment to this new business is that we all know that many brands move in and out of dealerships, and countless customers have been left holding the bag over the years.

That some want to put Cabela's in that same category is not seeing the difference between a company with an iconic brand, that dares to put that iconic brand on the tractors they offer, not to mention putting it alongside of the Woods name, as they would those that have not made that kind of commitment.

The Cabela's name is not on the tractors as a way to get people to pay more, it is on them as a statement of quality and customer service, and that is how they became the company that they are.

Another statement

putting the Cabela's name on the tractors was not done to get a higher price,

it was done to signal that we will stand behind the product.

As for why Cabela's has partnered with Tong Yang Moolsan, it is because as almost everyone who knows the product would agree, it is a very well made tractor. Also, the Tong Yang employees are really terrific people to work with.

Hahaha I found this quote from the tractor guy on another forum from 2014...........

Re: Cabela's Equipment in reply to rustyacres sd, 03-10-2014 10:27:10
I'd like to share a little info about Cabela's new Wildlife & Land Management (W&LM) business. Full disclosure, I'm a 20-year veteran of the Ag equipment industry, and I am serving as an advisor to Cabela's. The tractors are indeed made by TYM, the tires and wheels are made in the U.S. by Titan and the implements and attachments are made by Woods Equipment in Oregon IL. Cabela's has hired experienced tractor techs for all of their W&LM locations. The tractors are now priced very competitively, and we all know that the only way to really get to the bottom line price is to get a quote. We believe that Cabela's is a good fit with compact tractor owners, as they typically live the rural lifestyle just as all Cabela's customers do. I know that folks will have questions about how well Cabela's will take care of their tractor buying customers, so I end with this comment. Cabela's was founded in 1961 by Dick, Mary and Jim Cabela in Western Nebraska. They sold trout flies through the mail. Today, they have grown their tiny company into one of the most trusted brands in the world because of something called "Legendary Customer Service." They believe that the customer is at the root of their being, that they have no business without them. Dick passed away just a couple of weeks ago, but Mary and Jim are still with us, in fact, Jim is the Chairman of the Board. Just as the vast majority of those that exchange info on this site, the Cabela's family is one that personifies the best of America. Thanks for reading.

That may very well have been true back in 2014. But as we all know, they no longer own the company and unfortunately and sadly for many, from what I read customer support concerning Cabelas branded tractors is non-existent today.

Yup, you better get friendly with your TYM dealer!

Well, the major issue in this discussion is that Cabelas as a separate company has ceased to exist. They are owned my Bass Pro as of last year and as of last fall, they have started to put their stamp on the organization. One of these tractor and boat changes.... too bad for us

Is anybody interested in meeting and talking about our options in NC? We have options as long as they are operating under the Cabelas logo.

Yes. As it stands now I have not spent any money on my tractor. I would still have almost two years of warranty. I would like to replace the LCD that is going out but will not if I have to pay for it out of my own pocket. If something major happens then I am going to take it up with the NC attorney General's office.

I feel for you guys! I had been a die hard Cabelas fan for years, primarily because of the customer service. Anything Cabelas was quality and the few times that there were issues Cabelas bent over backwards to take care of it. But even before the buyout by Bass Pro I noticed that the Cabelas standard of customer service was in big decline. It was not "bad" but no better than competitors with much lower prices. It is sad to see Cabelas become another just another business focused on short term money. Best of luck to all of you and I hope that you get a fair resolution.
