Cabbed JD 4520

Looking at a used 2007 4520 with a cab. Lever to raise and lower the rockshaft arms will move only slightly. The shaft that goes into the rockshaft housing will not move/turn. The cable appears to be free and has no kinks or sharp bends. It will move. From sitting all winter could some corrosion build up between the shaft and the rockshaft cover not allowing it to move? Or could it be something more serious. BTW, they said the 3pt hitch worked fine before.

A couple of years ago I had problems with my rockshaft control and had to remove the cover and reconnect the linkage. While it was simple to fix and hasn't been a problem again since yours may have damaged parts. Just something to consider if you buy as is. Removal and replacement took me about 2 hours or less without any special tools and I was able to unbolt and lift the cover off by myself easily. That was on my 4520 cab 2009 and I don't think a 2007 would be different.

The lever worked and rotated, all the external linkage was okay. The internal parts came loose and had to be reassembled. One of the bolts fel into the sump of the axle and I retrieved it with a magnetic stick.
