Cab 4520 vs cab 5065M?

Akfish,

Are you a member of any equine association like AQHA etc? John Deere is partnered with numerous equine associations in both Canada and the USA. I took advantage of this program 3 years ago when I bought a 5425 cab. 23 percent off list if you find your own financing or pay cash.

My daughter has a horse, does that count? She is a member of the Morgan Horse Owners Association.

Yeah, it would count! I take it that you are in the US then? Your daughter may also be a member of the USEF as well(?) I would look into it.

Yep.. we're members of the AQHA. I looked into the program 3 years ago when we bought the JD 110 TLB.

But, the deal that we finally worked out was for 24% off list with the dealer AND JD's 0% financing!!

So, after going thru the paperwork with the Quarter Horse folk's - we didn't need it!

AKfish,
Do you really need a second fel of similar size to the 110? I ask because I studied this question for quite awhile and bought the 4520 without the fel but with full weights and other options for $34,000.

For 52,000 I can buy a 6115 with a few options, I don't think your dealer is shooting straight.

One of the biggest reasons to buy a new tractor is a CAB... and LOADER to make my winter chores a whole lot more comfortable! (We really do have 6 months of very crappy weather up here!)

Need to clean the corral and compost the manure at least every 3rd day or so. And every snow dump we get means I'm out there 4-5 hours with our place and a number of the neighbors...

I don't expect that the 400CX loader is gonna be on a par with the loader on the 110. But, moving and piling snow ain't like movin' gravel!

I built another 32'x36' pole barn building this past fall with the 110. 35 trees and stumps and 22 loads of gravel was just part of the site prep work! As long as I'm gonna keep expanding the farm - I'm gonna hang onto the 110.

Sat down for a couple of hours today to clear up a number of questions regarding options on the 4520 (optional SCV's) and the 5065M (Hi/lo tranny, 3rd SCV on loader).

Good day all in all - much better understanding of the optional SCV's on the 4000 tractors. Placed a couple of more calls to the factory regarding the 5000 series tractors. Should know more in a few days.

Absolutely clear now - salesman is just quoting the cost estimates from the JD website configurator to me - MSRP.

I didn't bother to either question or counter-offer today... I'll wait until I better understand the pricing and configurations for the 5000 series machines before I cross that bridge!

Nonetheless, I can only guess that the philosophy of the dealership is - "take it or leave it; 'cause it's a long drive, otherwise"!

Time will tell...

AKfish

I believe they are giving you the captive audience tax, since most people won't take the drive they charge list.

Ak, since your going to keep the 110 anyways why not just get a laurin cab for it? It won't have the fit an finish of the factory deere cab but is certainly close. If your in need of two tractors and your keeping your 110 then the ag units are definatly more bang for your buck. Have you contacted the dealer you purchase the 110 from? They seem to survive on volume so I'm sure you'll save alot of bank.

Matt - I looked into a Laurin - it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $8K. And, shipping the cab to AK would likely be nearly $2K or so.

That makes a real big down payment on a new 0% green machine!

It's been a number of months, now; but I did get in touch with the GreenSouth guy. He really wasn't very interested in selling me a new tractor...

Darrin's been real quiet for awhile... I wonder if they grow Bahia hay on the Texas coast? :D

Fella could lay in the hammock next to the beach and chew on a few strands and drink beer! :drink:
