Kioti LB1914
Hey all, Have a 2007 Kioti LB1914 with a KL1210 loader. Have had it for about 5 years, and the bucket has been able to pickup less and less weight. Its probably at the point now it can only pick up 3 to 400 lbs. The other day, I had a stack of 10 EMPTY wood pallets on the front forks... now i know forks puts weight farther out front due to leverage... but the bucket would Not tilt back toward the tractor at all. You could hear the bypass valve opening, the sort of weird whining sound it makes as the fluid passes by. So just to get these pallets moved, my Dad had to operate the controls, and I lifted up on about 7 of the pallets which to me felt like I was lifting about 25lbs. Then the tractor bucket would tilt back. This is not the first time I have had to "help" the front loader to lift and especially tilt something. I mean this is ridiculous.

Now, I don't think there is any issues with the hydrolics on the tractor itself. PTO and etc works fine and has proper power. But the bucket is really weak. Also have noticed that even when trying to lower the bucket slowly, it VERY easily SUDDENLY "drops" the load down. I have to barely put pressure on the control ever so slightly and very slowly adding pressure until it starts to lower in order to not suddenly drop a load down a foot or even to the ground. Don't know if this is connected, and yeah I can see it dropping if I moved the stick a good amount. But its just way too sensitive.

In anycase, from what I have read it seems that this is likely to be an issue with the fluid bypass valve needing adjusted, especially it being 14 years old. And I would expect this to be the case, as I heard the bypass valve opening all the time. So the questions becomes, does the valve need adjusted? Or is there something else wrong in the controls? Bad seals? Needs rebuilt?
If it just needs adjusted, then I am assuming I have to loosen the bolt and turn in the set screw? Also I think I would need a pressure gauge, is there a "universal" tractor pressure gauge set? I've never used one before. Also where would it connect? There appears to be two ports on the backside of the control box that are unused? Would this be the connection points?
Thanks

The term you are looking for is pressure relief valve. (PRV). IT is what gets adjusted to set the operating pressure of the tractor.

If the other hydraulics on the machine are fine, I doubt you have a pressure problem. But first and foremost you need to check the pressure.

The quick couplers where the loader hoses hook....that is where you test. It looks like the valve has female couplers and the loader hoses are male.

You need to buy (or you can temporarily borrow one from the loader) one of the male fittings that fit into the female couplers on your loader valve.

Then you need a 3000psi pressure gauge....with whatever fittings or adapters or short length of hose....to connect it to the loader valve couplers. Then start the tractor up....and move the joystick to whatever function you have the gauge hooked to an read the results of the gauge.

Another thing to try is uncoupling and recoupling all the loader hoses at the valve. You could have had one come partially loose causing issues.

If pressure is good and couplers are seated good and you still have issues....its time to move onto testing the cylinders. But we can cross that bridge after you do a pressure test and report back

Ok LD1, thanks for the info. I'll look more into it as I do need to get this fixed. Can't use the front loader much at this point. Will have to find an appropriate pressure gauge first.

anyone know of a hydraulic pressure tester kit that will fit the kioti, without having to "borrow" one of the quick connect fittings off a hose?
I put on a pressure gauge so I know what the pressure is .
I was just looking at some gauges. Do you happen to know if the Kioti uses metric or NPT threads? I figured they would be metric, but from the replacement couplers I'm finding they all show NPT...? I guess I'm just going to borrow coupler from off the hose.

NPT threads.

You should be able to find both the gauge and coupler at someplace like Tractor Supply or other farm/Agri store.. Walk them over to hydraulic fitting section and put together some adapters to mate them together. Must be pressure rated fittings, do NOT use pipe or brass.

Here ya go:

Gauge:

1/4" to 1/2" adapter:

Quick Couplers:

With those, you could plug directly in.

---

If you want to add hoses and depending on what you want to do:

1/2" male x male hose:

or, 1/2" female to female hose:

and the required adapters, depending on what you need:

for male hose ends:

for female hose ends:

-

All rated for 3500+psi. You should be able to parse through those and come up with a plan. Can also change things to 3/8" or 1/4" hose and adapters. They should be listed as well.

Wow Midniteoyl 😲 Thanks for into that the NPT was correct threads.
And Thanks so much more for All the Links! Wasn't expecting that. But yeah, I definitely got it from here. I'll order all my parts and get this fixed.
Thanks for all the help

Apologies.. I put in a link for 1/2" NPT to 1/2" NPT for the Female hose ends. If you do you a hose like that, you need a JIC flared to NPT fitting like this one:

Plus the appropriate one for the gauge (1/4" female NPT to 1/2" JIC which is really hard to find) so using a coupler would work.

Starting to be a lot of adapters here. Now you know why 'kits' cost so much, if you can find them :)
