My Dad bought a new shifter knob for his BX5100 (old one is in really bad shape). Does anyone know how to get the old one off? Even the dealer had no clue. Thanks!

Can you tell how the new one fastens on? That might give you a clue how to remove the old one.

If it's a pressed on knob, just heat the shaft with a propane torch as close to the knob as you can get, usually takes just a minute. Since you've got a new knob, you're probably not worried about the old one, but if you wanted to save it, just wrap a wet rag tightly around it, paying close attention to the underside, then heat away The new knob needs to be seated on a heated shaft, so work quickly and get one off, the other on as fast as you can.

you mean for bx1500? which shifter knob? speed? pto? 3 pt?

I'm not sure, it's my Dad's. It's a 50 horse tractor. He just order the knob and we're waiting to get it in. We can't figure out how to take the old one off in the meantime. It's the gear shifter knob. Thanks

I can't add any advice, but I think it may be a MX5100?

Yep, I don't think there's any 50 hp machines in the BX line...... unless The Fred has been working on them! LOL
