I just moved from OK to TN and am currently building a new house on 5 acres. Going to this size of a "yard", I just bought my first tractor, a used BX2660 with a FEL and 60 MMM. It has 120 hours on it. I bought used because most of my money is going in the new house, plus the dealer was able to give me the remainder of the warranty.

Here's a problem I've noticed after using it the first time. After the tractor has been running about a half-hour to an hour it starts to stall and RPMs drop when going up a hill. It will slow to a crawl or, depending on the hill size, come to a stop. If I take my foot off the speed control pedal it will slowly increase in RPMs and then slowly start inching forward again. It seems to get worst the longer the tractor is running. All of this is with the throttle wide open. It got to the point where my wife on a Cub Cadet was out pacing me. Curious, I waited until the next morning and drove the tractor over the same hill. The tractor had only been running about 5 minutes and it handled the hills with no problems. My first thought was to check the fluids. The tractor was serviced by the dealer prior to us getting it and I致e checked all fluids. Transmission fluid was full and appeared to be fresh (clear).

This sounds to me like transmission problems. Prior to buying it, I called the previous owner and, of course, he said he had no problems with it. He said it was too small for the work he wanted to do, so he traded it in for a larger Kubota. My guess is this tractor WAS too small for the work he was doing and he screwed up the transmission. Before I contact the dealer is there anything I should look at. Being my first 鍍ractor? I want to make sure I知 not doing something wrong or overlooking something.

If your engine RPM's are dropping and nearly stalling , it's the engine
not the Transmission . A transmission problem wouldn't alter the diesel
performance. Check the fuel filters first . Could be a rate of flow problem.
Does the RPM just-fade or missfire ?

Agree with OrangeRidge, sounds more like it is not getting enough fuel. How long does it have to sit in order for it to run properly?

Since it is under warranty, rather than trying to fix it, I would get the dealer to make it right.

Agree with above.

Dump the fuel and see if that helps. Someone may have contaminated the diesel fuel with gasoline or water condensation. Since it sat at the dealer, for an unknown period of time, and if you can believe the previous owner, then I'd say it is a simply fuel issue. Filters are cheap and there is two of them.

While you're draining the fuel anyhow, I'd put new filters on it. They are simple, in-line fuel filters. Nothing special. Check the air filter compartment as well for mice building a nest or some such.

I always check the small stuff first before assuming major component failure.

Just change the fuel filter underneath the tractor. 90% chance it will fix the problem.

Thanks guys for the fast responses. I'll try replacing the fuel filters.
Wish I sent this message out before filling the tank this morning. :p

Don't drain it unless you have a reason. Fuel is too pricey! Probably just 120 hours worth of accumulated crud. The timing is about right for that first filter to clog. Make sure you clamp the fuel line with some vice grips or something before you pop that filter loose. It's gravity flow to that lower filter and you will get a bath if you don't! The little shiny thing IS NOT a filter!

Rick , when you've replaced the filter , break the old one open
with a hammer and post some photos of the contents . I'd like
to see what sort of condition a filter that can't pass a gallon
per hour looks like . Thanks .

Is it in high gear? My GC will do that if I forget and try to climb a steep hill in high.:ashamed:
