I heard some clicking and thought it was a u-joint.......obviously not.......five minutes latter BAM! How did this happen?

The area to the left of the rear PTO.......it looks like a bearing support cover of some sort.......

Holy Crap! I just looked at the arse end of my BX and dat ain't supposed to be cracked like dat. I wonder how that happened??? :confused3: Was the PTO hooked up and engaged?

Yes, it was hooked up and in use.......

What was the PTO driving?

Was the PTO shaft cut to the correct length? If too long, lifting it hard could damage that area.

That was my first thought also.... Mine is out in the barn and can't look at it to see exactly how it is made right now.
2nd thought was a possible straight up manufacturing defect.

Curious - How old is the machine and how many hrs?

I'm wondering if you "shocked" the pto. Have you been throttling down prior to engaging the pto?
