So found a BX25 listed for sale. Talked to the owner. Second owner and he said he bought it after first owner rolled it. Has used it about 15 to 20 hours as is. Says it puts out white smoke for the first couple minutes after starting and then the smoke stops and it runs fine after that with normal power. Also has the HST fan blades broken off which he said he did recently by driving through brush and admitted upfront. I am familiar with the HST fan blades and repairing that.
Having read through many forum threads seems the roll overs on these often result in oil in pistons causing the rods to bend if started right away after a roll over without draining oil first. Does the symptom of white smoke for a couple minutes after startup reflect that kind of damage? If it has been used 15 to 20 hours after the damage was done will that make it worse or would the damage stay constant? What kind of price range might the engine repair cost if repaired? Low / high?
He is asking about $9000 for it with around 350 hours on it. Trying to decide if it is worth driving to see it or best to simply pass. A BX25 in this area with those hours in good condition normally sells for about $14k.
Thanks in advance!
