CHDinCT you are to be complimented for starting this excellent thread. My compliments also extend to other members for their valuable inputs.

I would like to install a remote valve on my BX25; however, I am having difficulty figuring out how those hydraulic lines attached to the backhoe actually work. Might some members be able to shed a bit of light on a few questions please? For example:

1) Is there a diagram available that illustrates how the oil flows through the three hydraulic lines between the BX25 and the BT601?
2) Might there be a diagram that shows to which ports on the remote valve the above hydraulic lines should be connected to?
3) Finally, is there a diagram showing which ports on the remote valve would be connected to two hydraulic cylinders on a new attachment (other than the BT601)?

Ip333, just saw your post with questions. I'll see if I can help you out some. While there may be a hydraulic circuit diagram in the BX25 Work Shop Manual (available for purchase from any dealer), I didn't have one but really didn't need it. I can tell you that the three connections for the backhoe consist of a pressure in line (which is the male ended line that when un-hooked extends about a foot out from the tractor), a power beyond line which is the line that plugs into the female quick connect on the tractor just to the right of the top link bracket, and finally the return-to-tank line which is the line that has a female end and plugs into the male QC just to the left of the top link bracket.

When the backhoe is connected to the tractor, pressure flows from the pressure in line through the backhoe valve and out to the power beyond line so as to feed pressure to downstream vales on the BX. This is the case when no functions on the backhoe are being used. As soon as you use any BH functions, pressure is diverted via the BH valve to whatever cylinder is in use and low pressure oil on opposite side of the cylinder is feed through the BH valve back to the HST tank via the return-to-tank line.

In my set up, I looked for a two spool valve with a power beyond function and in essence put it in place of the BH valve (conceptually). I hooked up the pressure in from the tractor to the pressure in port on the new vavle, the power beyond port on the new valve to the power beyond port on the tractor, and the tank return line on the valve to the tank return port on the tractor. When set up this way, pressure is fed through the new valve and down stream to other functions whenever the valve is not in use. When in use, the valve re-directs pressure to one of the two pairs of ports and then back to the HST tank via the tank return line on the new valve. To use the backhoe via the new valve, I used one set of ports on the valve to feed the pressure in and power beyond hoses on the BH and then hooked up the tank return line on the backhoe to the tank return line from the new valve via a "T" fitting.

Well, this may be hard to explain via works, but if you start with knowing which connections at the rear of your BX are for pressure in, power beyond and tank return (as I laid out above), you'll know how to hook them up to your new auxilliary valve since the new valve's ports will be labeled when you get it. If you attempt this project, start a new thread (my recommendation) and ask lots of questions and you'll get plenty of help from the hyraulic experts on TBN, which assuredly, I'm not one of. So I guess I could say, if I can do it, so can you. Hope some/any of this helps.

Ip333, just realized I didn't address Q3 in your post. I guess it could depend on what implement you're powering via the aux valve, but as far as any two-way cylinder is concerned, it doesn't matter which port on the valve is connected to which port on the cylinder. Since the spool will operate in two directions, moving the spool in one direction will move the cylinder one way and vice-versa for the other spool position. If you don't like which position on the spool corresponds to which way the cylinder moves, just reverse the lines. Hope that helps.

Chris,

This was very helpful. I've been wondering what each of the lines actually does.

Hopefully I'll get around to attaching my grapple soon.

Also came in handy when I hooked up my carry all to move some firewood (hat tip to Wrooster and CTF for the carryall idea). Anyway, here's a few pic's of the top link fully extended and retracted.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I've had some PMs and posts including CORamos above on which port on the back of the BX25/25D/24 is for pressure in, power beyond and tank return so I thought I'd add this pic of mine with notes and arrows showing which line does what. This should help anyone that's looking to add an auxiliary valve using the existing BH power beyond loop.

Also, if it matters to anyone, I found that with the auxiliary valve hooked up and the detent spool active (I use a detent spool to send continuous flow/pressure to the BH when I run it off of the aux valve), that there is no pressure to the FEL valve or 3PH. So, that must mean that the BH pressure in is the first valve in series in the BX hydraulic system. I don't know if the FEL is next or the 3PH, but if I had to quess, I'd guess the FEL is next/second. Hope any of this is helpful to other hydraulic mod'ers out there.

Hello I have a question

I have a bx25d. I bought a prince 2 spool valve for snowblower trow control. I know that i need to run one hose from power beyon loop into valve intake, but where i'm confused is how to conect the rest of setup to be good. If i connect the exhaust port to the other end of power beyond loop will this be ok???

Help!!!
Sorry for my bad english, i usually speak french!

samofsweden, nice set up. Tripple remotes I see. Did you plumb yours into the backhoe ports?
Hi. I hoped you would see my thread, but there where only a few pics...
Sorry for that, yes I did plum it into the backhoe ports. You need to be just a little careful if you do as I did, you have to plum it so the oil can circle then using iit without BH.
Good luck!

Posting a pic on my setup. You have to disconcet this setup when inuse of the BH, and reconnect when the BH is off. Its a very simple pluming.
